Description from Strava:

Sunday, late afternoon, by the Velenje lakes. We stopped here on our way home from Slovenj Gradec. To escape the rain, to have a run and a walk around the lakes, to have a late lunch, and to continue home after all was done. It was a complete success.

The area around the lakes is destined for strolls and jogs. It was quite crowded and I learned something nw. Actually, I found out that something new was built since our last visit here.

These two swans noticed me when I stopped by the shore and swam toward me. It was expected that they do so.

Male's reaction when he neared me, was expected too. He was hissing at me and demanded food. These big birds are so predictable in their urban behavior.

Moving away from the birds and looking to my right, rolling hills and meadows surround the lake here.

It was cloudy with the setting sun trying to peek through the clouds.

Poetry retreat, or so they called this spot.

On the far shore of the second lake there is a coal power plant Šoštanj with its chimneys and a white smoke constantly enriching the air in the area.

The clouds couldn't decide where to split or to merge.

When I reached the more populated and urban area this sight surprised me.

Recently the have built a sort of oversized lookout. Of course, there is a bar in the structure. A proper tourist trap.

And an opportunity for some uphill intervals.

A telling sign posted on the fence halfway up, mentioning poet Karel Destovnik Kajuh. He we a voice of the partisan resistance during World War Two.

I am not totally convinced that this structure belongs here.

Neither do these to guys.

Mammoth bones were found in the area. That's why these creatures are erected here. Which is no excuse for a bad taste.

Going back to where I started, following the path for horse riding.

The hill here is littered with the small cottages.

We parked behind the stadium.
