Season 10 - Weekend One - Rules explained
Good Day All,
Season 10 is going to be different. Super League is introduced, so I feel I need to explain the format and scoring again. Please read below. For Consolation Cup players - you compete in a standard play-off mode, with two matches per round and the aggregate score deciding the winner.
Super League
Format & scoring
Starting this coming weekend (Fri THRU Mon, Aug 26-29), we will score points for:
- stepping and publishing @actifit report cards
- writing a post
Novelty: we do not compete in pairs (no group phase, no play-offs). We simply "walk alone". The sum of scores gathered during the four days is our Stepping Score.
Stepping Score: step count divided by 1000 and rounded to the nearest integer; 0.5 rounds up to 1
Novelty: additional points can be gained by writing an original (no reblogs) post into the @MAcFiT community). They will be awarded with Writing Score.
- English preferred, could be bilingual
- min. 250 words (400 if bilingual)
- any topic within the broad categories:
-- @actifit (walking, hiking, biking, mass event etc.; even a visit to a museum goes)
-- @aliveprojects (cherishing life, planning and achieving goals, sharing good advice - ex. financial, health, even a cooking recipe fits in) - the post must have at least two beneficiaries
-- @macfit - this will create a pool of awards for our competitions
-- @hive-135376 (community owner) - this will create pool of awards for Super League participants - posts need to be submitted by Thursday preceding the stepping Weekend
-- ie. Weekend One starts on Friday, Aug 26, therefore posts must be in by Thursday 20:00 CEST at the latest - they will be evaluated by
-- regular upvotes; the four best will be awarded 20-15-12-10 points respectively
-- popular vote: on Thursday evening I will announce eligible posts and Super League participants (and only they!) will vote by placing comments. The authors of best four posts will be awarded 20-15-12-10 points respectively; each participant who cares to vote, will get 5 points. Voting for one's own post is obviously not allowed.
Writing Score: Sum of points for upvotes and popular vote
All points collected during a Weekend will be added up. Six players with the lowest total will be eliminated; the best two of them will be transferred to Consolation Cup. The rest will compete in Weekend Two, with the same rules. In Weekends 3 and 4 only four players will be eliminated.
See the scoring table for illustration (it is available as a public Google spreadsheet)
Scoring example
Say that @merthin achieves the following step counts:
Fri: 19501 => score: 20
Sat: 30456 -> score: 30
Sun: 15987 => score: 16
Mon: 14124 -> score: 14
He also writes a post (already there - see it here). Say it doesn't collect enough upvotes to be in the top four => 0 points. But say, in the popular vote of the participants it ends being the second best => 15 points. And since @merthin will take part in the voting, he receives additionaly => 5 points.
Therefore the total is: 20 + 30 + 16 + 14 + 0 +15 +5 = 100 points.
If the total is NOT among the 6 lowest scores for Weekend One, @merthin advances to Weekend Two.
All clear?
