Afternoon Run - 11km (an easy run to round off a busy day)
dannewton just finished a 11.64km run, that lasted for 68 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 864.0 calories.
Description from Strava: It may well be the weekend, but as mentioned in my last post, I am not able to do my 'long run' today (and neither could I fit in a parkrun either).
Instead all of the family were meeting up at Whisby Nature Park to have a walk around the reserve, and then get some cake at the cafe afterwards. We were meant to meet at 11am, so I thought about trying to squeeze a little run in this morning before doing a longer run... but that didn't really work as I was't quite up in time, and I didn't want to rush!
So as a change of plan to still make some use of my time I took a quick walk to the shops:
This just a quick one to pick up some essential items (milk/eggs/ham), as I still have plenty left over from the proper food shop last weekend.
I arrived back home just in time to be picked up by my Dad. We headed to the Doctors so he could get his winter flu jab, and then we drove down to Whisby. It felt a little bit like deja vu considering I was here last as part of my long run, but this was where my brother had asked us to meet him
We did at least do some of the trails backwards, so it did feel a little different!
It was a beautiful morning for it, and it was a very pleasant stroll around the nature reserve. It was just me and our Dad along with my brother and his wife and daughter. It was lovely to catch up with everbody, and to enjoy the views at the same time.
As we were walking, it meant I could appreciate the surroundings a little more compared to when I ran round here last weekend. Amongst other things, I found a reasonable asssortment of mushrooms, which I will write about in a future post.
After the walk, we headed back to the cafe for a bite to eat. We were thinking of cake, but as it was lunchtime we went for some toasted sandwiches instead. I went for the vegan mozzarella and tomato
I'm not vegan, but it just seemed the tastiest of the options on offer!
After saying our goodbyes, Dad dropped me back off at home, where it was time for me to finally get my run for today completed.
I wanted to get 10k done today, and that would then leave tomorrows run to be around 20-22k which would mean I would get the required mileage for the week of approximately 70km.
I picked a regular route that would get me the 10km, and for a change I chose to run this backwards (ie up the bypass and into Branston, before heading down the back roads back towards Bracebridge Heath).
It was a mostly easy zone 2 effort, but I did try to keep my heart rate at the higher end, which allowed me to push the pace a little more than usual. I'm pleased to see I averaged a pace of 5:48km over the entire run
With that 11km run done, it rounds of a fairly busy and active day. Now I can put my feet up and rest a little, before getting ready to talk to Dawn on Teams later.
Tomorrow I hope to get the 'long run' out of the way pretty early, so I have time to catch up on chores around the house... the ironing pile is definitely starting to loom dangerously, and the bathroom needs cleaning too!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
