Lo vivido hoy en el inicio de los Cuartos de Final de la Copa del Mundo de Qatar 2022 demuestra la grandeza del deporte, el no perder las esperanzas bajo ninguna circunstancia y en ser fiel a las costumbres, valores e idiosincrasias nacionales.

En los dos partidos efectuados estos criterios se pusieron de manifiesto, los que creyeron en sus fuerzas y fueron fieles a sus principios y valores salieron victoriosos, los que no lo hicieron fueron derrotados y se les acabó su andar por la copa mundial.

Partido Croacia vs Brasil.

Aquí fallé mi primer pronóstico de Cuartos de Final y confieso que, si me vuelven a preguntar volvería a dar favorito al gigante sudamericano. De hecho, en el juego tuvo varios destellos de la virtuosidad de sus jugadores y solamente la falta de puntería de muchos de ellos fue uno de los elementos que les pasó factura.

Vayamos al encuentro

Previa.

El último partido de estos equipos en copas del mundo fue victoria de Brasil por 3 goles a 1. En cuanto a los resultados en octavos avanzaron de manera diferentes, pues, mientras Croacia ganaba a Japón en las tandas de penales Brasil aplastaba a Corea por 4 goles a 1. Esto hacía presagiar un partido redondo de la Canarihna porque, además de la calidad del equipo, sus rivales habían tenido que jugar 120 minutos y la plantilla base de su equipo titular era de mucha más edad que la brasileña.

Brasil salió con su alineación de lujo y puso sobre el terreno de juego a: Allison, Marquiños, Thiago Silva, Danilo, Eder Militao, Casemiro, Paquetá, Neymar Jr., Rafiña y Vinicius Jr.

Croacia alineó con los jugadores que los ha llevado hasta aquí, una alineación con mucha experiencia y una calidad, sobre todo, en el centro del campo y en la portería, algo que se pudo constatar la victoria croata ante Japón. En tal sentido, su técnico envió al campo a Livakovic, Juranovic, Lovren, Gvardiol, Sosa, Modric, Brozovic, Kovacic, Perisic, Pasalic y Kramaric.

Primer tiempo

Fue un primer tiempo muy parejo en todos los renglones del juego, con dominio alterno del balón por uno y otro equipo y en el que Brasil no gustó y Croacia se sentía cómoda en el juego. En este tiempo hubo algún que otro disparo, pero no fue lo que se esperaba por los aficionados.

Segundo tiempo

En el segundo periodo Brasil comenzó de manera trepidante y puso en aprieto a la selección croata, pero su portero Livakovic paró todo lo que le tiraron los jugadores brasileños. De esta parte destacar que en ocasiones Brasil lo intentó, pero Neymar no estuvo con la calidad acostumbrada y falló varios pases, no podía desbordar y perdió dos manos a mano con el portero. Quizás la lesión sufrida en el primer partido contra Serbia lo tenía disminuido y no lo hizo lucir en todo su esplendor.

Tiempo extra (I parte)

El primer tiempo extra de Brasil fue su mejor versión. Sabiendo de antemano que ganarle a Croacia en penales no es fácil salieron a por un gol y lo encontraron en los minutos finales cuando una genialidad colectiva capitalizada por Neymar los llevó a ponerse delante. Culminó el tiempo y Brasil festejaba, pues le faltaban 15 minutos para las semifinales, pero se acaba cuando el árbitro pita el final del juego.

Tiempo extra (II parte)

Aquí se puso de manifiesto algo que escribí en la introducción de esta publicación. Brasil dejó de atacar, se metió atrás en su área y Croacia comenzó a llegar, algo que llegaría a ser efectivo para ellos, cuando a falta de 6 minutos consiguieron el ansiado gol del empate y la posibilidad de ir a una fase donde son casi invencible: La tanda de los penales.

Aquí se agrandó la leyenda del portero que le detuvo un penalti a Rodrigo y en el cuarto intento Marquiños falló, mientras sus compañeros no fallaron ningún tiro. Al final Croacia ganó y protagonizó una de las sorpresas del mundial.

Mi valoración del partido

•Brasil fue superior a Croacia, pero no fue mejor ni más efectivo. Quizás sea una contradicción, pero no lo es porque Croacia ganó y tuvo 1 solo tiro entre los tres palos y fue gol.

•Los delanteros brasileños no estuvieron acertados y el portero croata lo paró todo para convertirse en el héroe indiscutible del partido y el equipo, pues, si están en semifinales mucho tiene que ver en ese resultado.

•En el segundo tiempo extra Brasil cambió su manera de jugar y esto le pasó factura. Si hubiesen seguido atacando Croacia tenía que preocuparse mucho más y sus jugadores no tenían el físico para resistir el ataque.

•La postura defensiva de Brasil no los define. Hasta que los técnicos y federativos no entiendan que esta manera de jugar no les da resultado seguirán llegando las derrotas. Si el tiqui-taca de España es un fracaso para ellos, este juego defensivo de Brasil no los identifica.

•El fútbol en Brasil es más que un deporte, es una forma de sentir y expresarse. La forma en que juegan este deporte es cultura, identidad, música, samba y jugarlo de la manera alegre en que lo hacían es lo que deben retomar.

•Croacia fue un equipo muy disciplinado que no se desesperó y aprovechó las facilidades de Brasil, para darles el zarpazo final y sacarlos de la competición.

•El técnico croata le ganó el pulso al técnico brasileño quien no estuvo acertado en los cambios, el esquema táctico empleado y debe dejar de inmediato la selección nacional.

Argentina vs Holanda

Este fue un partido digno de una final. Dos equipos que derrocharon energías y fueron valientes en las propuestas que hicieron. Lo vivido en este encuentro demuestra que las posibilidades de victorias del ser humano son infinitas y que nunca se debe dejar de intentar y de luchar. Pero, vayamos al encuentro.

La última vez que se enfrentaron en una copa del mundo la Albiceleste derrotó a la selección naranja, por lo que esto tenía olor a venganza. Países Bajos sabía de su fortaleza y Argentina de su calidad técnica. ¿Quién ganaría?, ¿Cómo trazar el plan táctico para alcanzar los objetivos?, ¿Quiénes serían los equipos que se encargarían de llevar a cabo las estrategias estudiadas?

Primer tiempo

Fue un tiempo de dominio alterno, pues, a pesar del dominio del balón por parte de la selección albiceleste los tulipanes esperaban pues una de sus virtudes principales es jugar sin balón.

Todo continuó de esa manera, con algún que otro disparo a puerta por uno y otro equipo hasta que en el minuto 34 una genialidad de Leo Messi en la que le sirvió un pase de lujo a Nahuel Molina y este de manera magistral la mandó a guardar al fondo de la red holandesa.

Pasaron los minutos y el marcador no se movió más. Culminaba el periodo y ganaba la favorita por un gol a cero.

Segundo tiempo

El segundo tiempo inició con el mismo guión del primero, pero en la medida que avanzaba el tiempo y los naranjas no encontraban la manera de hacerle daño a los argentinos el técnico Luis Van Gaal continuó haciendo cambio y a los dos del entretiempo (Berghuis y Koopmeiners, por De Roon y Bergwijn) metió a Lud de Jong, pero tampoco llegaron los resultados esperados, todo lo contrario, porque en el minuto 72 Messi anotó su cuarto gol del partido, tras el penalti cometido contra Acuña.

Argentina estaba a poco tiempo de la semifinal. En el minuto 78 el técnico de Países Bajos sacó a Memphis y entró Weghorst con el objetivo marcado de que su equipo tirara centros al área, para que pudieran ser cabeceados por este jugador de elevada estatura y dio resultado, cuando en el minuto 82 Weghorst anotó de cabeza un centro al área que Dibu no pudo detener. Se metía Holanda en el partido, pero quedaba poco tiempo.

Llegó el minuto 90 y el árbitro dio 10 minutos de tiempo agregado. Países Bajos empujó y Argentina se metió atrás y ya vimos que eso es fatal. En el final del partido y tras una falta cerca del área los tulipanes holandeses empataron el partido con una jugada ensayada que les salió a la perfección, pues esperaban que fueran directo a portería o lanzarían otro centro para que la cabeza de Weghorst empatara el partido.

En cambio, le dieron un pase raso y este mandó el balón al fondo de la red para empatar el partido. No se podía creer.

Tanda de penales

En esta instancia salió a relucir la calidad del portero argentino que paró los dos primeros penales y encarriló la victoria de Argentina consumada con el cuarto gol anotado por Lautaro Martínez. De esta manera, nuevamente Argentina estará en una semifinal y enfrentará a Croacia que en el mundial de Rusia 2018 ya le venció por 3 goles a 1.

Resumen del partido

•Argentina fue superior a su rival y pudo definir el partido en tiempo extra, pero les faltó puntería de cara al gol

•Tuvieron en Leonel Mesi a su capitán y líder conduciéndolos a la victoria con un gol y una asistencia.

Una reflexión final.

Ha sido una jornada digna de unos Cuartos de Final que han estado a la altura de la calidad competitiva de esta Copa del Mundo. Los dos encuentros fueron intensos y emotivos y guardaron para sus finales las mejores emociones. El hecho que ambos tuvieran que ir a tiempo extra y decidirse en la tanda de penales así lo demuestran.

De esta jornada se sacan varias conclusiones, algunas de las cuales hemos venido exponiendo a lo largo del mundial: El favoritismo no te da la victoria, no hay enemigos pequeños y en el deporte, como en la vida gana quien lucha más y mejor y quien sabe capitalizar bien sus habilidades y fuerzas.

Terminó la primera jornada de Cuartos de Final y se fue un grande como Brasil, pero la otra nación sudamericana queda en pie. Veremos si será capaz de derrotar a la Croacia de Luka Modric que nuevamente está entre las cuatro mejores del mundo y luchará por incluirse en la segunda final de su historia.

My assessment of the match

• Brazil was superior to Croatia, but not better or more effective. Maybe it is a contradiction, but it is not because Croatia won and had only 1 shot between the three goals and it was a goal.

• The Brazilian forwards were not accurate and the Croatian goalkeeper stopped everything to become the undisputed hero of the match and the team, because, if they are in the semifinals a lot has to do with that result.
