Morning Run: Crash
steevc just finished a 5.42km run, that lasted for 34 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 391.0 calories.
Description from Strava:
I did not crash, but a couple of nights ago some idiot crashed their car up the road. Several cars were damaged and one was pushed through the front of this house. A couple of year ago a car crashed through a house at the other end of the village and we have had some cars overturn. That does not happen if people are driving sensibly, but some will want to show off and will pay the price.
My own outing was more sedate as I jogged up to West Drive to do my first intervals in a while. I was interested to see how that would go with my hip issue. It was not too bad really, but by the fifth time up the hill I had had enough and slowed down a bit. The pace on some of the other climbs was not too far off what I was doing before. I need to do more of that.
The weather was quite mild, but dry after all the rain we have had. We were out on Tuesday night and there were huge puddles on the roads.
I am marshalling at parkrun on Saturday, but I may run again on Sunday.
Run free!

Idiot would be the correct word indeed!
Is this on the main road? When there's cars parked up it can be a bit of a slalom course and I'm sure the impatient can run into trouble. I'm not excusing it at all though!
I wonder if they get away with just a slap on the wrist..
This is just next to the Indian restaurant on the main road. Yes, there are lots of parked cars, but to push a car through the front of a house they had to be doing 50mph+. I often hear cars zoom past at night, but they know they can mostly get away with it. The reports say several people went to hospital and I assume at least some were in the car as there would not be many about at that time. They ought to get a driving ban.
!BEER
Absolutely!!!
Police are saying four were arrested. I am guessing they were young men and the driver was showing off. Not surprised if drink was been involved. I have seen so many accidents around here over the years.
There's no real threat to punishment these days.
I even feel bad putting the word here.. lol.. but it's true..
It can make some people angry.. does me in some cases to be fair.
Keep going, you're smashing your training at the moment and getting stronger every day.

that's good to you burn meximum calories, you doing good job.
God will safe you and always blessed you😇
It reminded me of the time when I lived in a high-rise building that stood at the intersection with the ring road. In the summer, our windows were open all the time, and we very often heard the screeching of brakes and then the dull sound of "Boom!"..
I admire your commitment to running!
Well, I know your local situation is far more 'dramatic'. These events provide something for the locals to talk about on Facebook. There are always calls for speed cameras or something else to slow down drivers.
I feel I need to keep running to stay healthy and I enjoy it too. I see more of the local area than most people as I explore.

I think we are finally getting some relief from the heat and humidity today. My wife has been wanting to get out and do some walking, but when you wake up and the humidity is at 95% or higher each morning it's hard to want to leave the A/C. She has decided we need to get a treadmill for days like that!
I've got a sweater on at home today as it's not so warm. Mind you, I've not used the pool for over a week. It's due to warm up tomorrow.
Dang! I think we are going to be in a similar situation next week. We are heading north and they aren't calling for temps to go much past 70.
We have friends who live next door to someone whose house is constantly being run into. It was so bad they put up concrete barriers. Even with those barriers, they still get hit. You know that car had to have gone airborne since the barriers were still there (though you could tell something hit them). They found the wife under the car that ran through the house. Fortunately she was ok, just a few minor injuries, but that was all they could take. They moved out and now that beautiful house sits empty. No one wants to buy it.
The one hit last time is on a bend, but you would have to be speeding to hit it. They have put in road humps there. We have a lot of houses around here that have no front garden, so they are more easily hit if a car leaves the road.
Unfortunately some people will just not drive sensibly, especially in town. Have to hope they don't kill anyone else when they crash.
!BEER
Idiots is the best word for them indeed. Why will they crash their cars. I'm sure that is because they are being careless. Some drivers are so rough that they don't care about their lives...
People drive like nutters half the time. I think driving a car is when I feel the least safe in my life. At first there aren't so many drunks now getting behind the wheel
Someone reckoned this guy had been drinking. I'm happy to be driving a lot less these days, but I need to face the dreaded M25 tomorrow morning. Not looking forward to that.
I hate a bad motorway drive!!
Dang, too often crashes are still the cause of drunken folk. It's not a hard thing to not do!
