Description from Strava:
I am trying something different with this write-up. I do them on Strava to get picked up by @strava2hive so they appear on Hive and I earn something, but Strava has limited options for formatting and the app. This time I am writing it in the PeakD editor so I can include images. I saw this suggested when using 3speak as that editor is limited too. Plus you can save a draft.
It is a lovely morning and ideal for running, even if it is a little warm for me. As you can see the pool is up and I will see if I feel brave enough to get in later.
I jogged up to parkrun as usual. One of the guys was walking there with his wife. They had not realised the road was closed and had parked the other side of the works. When I got to the start there were not many there, but I may just have been earlier than usual. Lots more soon appeared. I had a chat with regular Helen. It seems she also has a hip problem like me, but has not done anything about it. I called my health insurance and will speak to someone about it next week to see what they can offer.
We had a fair few visitors. One guy was doing his 100th location and completing all the parkruns in Bedfordshire. Another had a shirt for 250 volunteering sessions. Those are impressive.
I just ran the best I could today. I was feeling my hip and that may slow me down a little. I tried to keep up with some people, but that was not always possible. At the end I went as fast as I could and could hear someone just behind me. I think it was a couple of young ladies, but I was not looking.
I came 36th out of 157. That is a great turnout.
I have been getting slower over the last few runs, but that is not so bad really for my age.
There were cakes at the finish as someone was celebrating 200 runs. Then I walked back with Helen, having a chat along the way. She worked at the school when my kids were small.
After posting this I realised that was my 50th run at this course. My age grade has been hovering around 60% over that time. It is good that it is not dropping.
Have a great weekend and run free!
