Morning Run: Sprinty
steevc just finished a 5.8km run, that lasted for 35 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 406.0 calories.
Description from Strava:
I am usually at work on a Tuesday and sometimes run at lunch, but today it was looking like it would be pretty warm then (25C) and so I was contemplating a really early run before going to the office. As it worked out I am working from home, so could run at a more reasonable time when it was just 16C.
I did the loop that is possible since the new road to the bypass was built last year. At some point a few hundred houses will be built around it, but for now it is fields with a lot of wild flowers. Unfortunately the sculpture out there that celebrates various aspects of Arlesey was vandalised.
I decided to do some sprint intervals, but did not stick to a schedule for those. I was happy enough to peak around 5min/km as that is about as fast as I can run. I would just like to sustain that pace for longer, so I need to keep doing this.
I passed through Etonbury Wood to come out by the school. Then it was a matter of heading back along the bypass to Arlesey. I took the long way around by the allotments. The ground is all dry now. Actually there is a drain near our house that has had water pouring out of it for weeks, but as of today that had stopped.
I did a few more sprints along the way and took it very easy between them to recover. I think that I often do not let myself recover enough and I know some people walk then, so I tried that at times.
I extended the run a little at the end to get nearer to 6km, but this was more about effort than distance.
We were out last night cutting our big hedge. That is a substantial job every year and it involves a few trips to the dump. We just got a long hedge trimmer, but it started making some alarming noises. We will be getting that replaced so we can finish the job. It was hot work even though we waiting until got a little cooler. We had Olympics to watch anyway. Good to see Team GB get some more medals, but we can enjoy the great performances by others too.

Blummin kids love to vandalise a statue, especially if it is in an unseen area.
I have been cutting back loads in my garden. Finally looking acceptable almost again!
Vandals are a tiny minority, but they can really spoil things. There's no easy solution.
Parts of our garden are overgrown, but I feel we ought to do something with those that others see. I really want to bring the hedge height back down a bit so it's easier to reach. That can mean getting in with big pruners as the hedge trimmer can't handle the big stuff.
There is a lot of my side stuff that got too tall. I should have thought of long trimmers as I was lassoing stuff down and cutting it but it was tortuous.
I hate them, in my area there is little vandalism but even then they still manage to get in and do the odd bit of eyesore work. Buggers
Nice job on your run. I need to start doing some stretches before I use the treadmill in the morning. I find that my legs get sore too quickly and I can't job as long as I would like.
I probably don't stretch as much as I should. I do think it's good to take it gently at the start of a run. I run better once warmed up.
I usually walk at a speed of 3 mph for about four to five minutes then I start in with the jogging portions.

It seems like THEMARKYMARK is dealing with some personal drama and mental issues, which might be causing them to spam us and others with baby pics, GIFs, and questionable content he's been doing the same for years. The fun doesn't stop there, as this seems to be a recurring theme with multiple online personas. The real question is, do we want to trust these drama-magnets with our hard-earned funds or any significant influence on Hive?

It's called a 'rest day'. I can't run every day.

They says it is important to touch on some speed regularly with your runs. I try to weave it in as much as possible just short strides or run throughs, feels like a bit of fun too.

Intervals are great and doing them once or twice a week is probably more enough. My favorite workout for getting faster were tempo/threshold runs though.
I do those too sometimes. I don't have a strict routine, but I try to mix it up.
