When Your Body Says "Stop" – Time to Recharge

Yesterday was supposed to be the day I donated blood, doing my small part to help save lives. I was prepared—hydrated, ready, and in good spirits… but my body had other plans. After a small test sample, I was told my hematocrit and hemoglobin levels were too high. In other words, my body was saying, “Hey, maybe slow down a bit?”

Even though I usually stay hydrated, something was clearly off. I had been feeling a little strange for a few days, but I blamed it on fatigue. It wasn’t until the doctor at the blood donation center gave me some advice that I realized I needed to take it seriously. A temporary disqualification, some health recommendations, and a moment of reflection—then came my decision: two days off, full recovery, and a commitment to taking better care of myself.

After getting home, I did something that doesn’t come easy to me—I just lay down. A nap, some lazy moments, a complete reset. And in the evening? A short walk with my husband to move a little without overdoing it. Well… that “short” walk ended up being a bit longer than planned, with my step count hitting 16,000—not bad for a rest day!

Today, I’m continuing the mission: more water, more relaxation, less rush. Because if I want to give my best to others, I have to start by taking care of myself.

Wczoraj miał być dzień, w którym oddam krew i dorzucę swoją cegiełkę do ratowania życia. Wszystko szło zgodnie z planem – nawodnienie, przygotowanie, dobre nastawienie… ale organizm miał inne plany. Po pobraniu próbki okazało się, że hematokryt i hemoglobina są za wysokie. Innymi słowy – moje ciało mówiło „hej, może trochę zwolnisz?”.

Chociaż dbam o nawodnienie, wygląda na to, że coś poszło nie tak. Od kilku dni czułam się trochę dziwnie, ale zwalałam to na zmęczenie. Dopiero rozmowa z lekarzem w punkcie krwiodawstwa dała mi do myślenia. Dyskwalifikacja, zalecenia, chwila refleksji – i decyzja: dwa dni urlopu, pełna regeneracja i porządne zadbanie o siebie.

Po powrocie do domu zrobiłam coś, co normalnie przychodzi mi z trudem – po prostu się położyłam. Drzemka, leniuchowanie, totalny reset. A wieczorem? Krótki spacer z mężem, żeby nie siedzieć w miejscu, ale też się nie przeciążać. No… może ten „krótki” spacer trochę się rozciągnął, bo licznik kroków pokazał 16 000 – całkiem niezły wynik jak na dzień odpoczynku!

Dziś kontynuuję misję: więcej wody, więcej spokoju, mniej pędu. Bo jeśli chcę dawać z siebie jak najwięcej, muszę zacząć od zadbania o siebie.
