Good day,
The 1st MAcFiT Olympic Games are over. Last events were held on Sunday. All that is left, is medal ceremonies. This post features two team events - Tennis & 4x100 Relay. Medalists are presented here, followed by ranking points gained.

The individual events (Volleyball and Cycling) medalists and ranking points have been presented yesterday (Monday).

I want to thank all participants for playing, involvement and comments.

Did you like the Games? What was good and where there's room for improvement? Which event was your favorite? Would you like to participate in future Olympics? What do you think about the team events?

Tennis

I have been informed by @bucipuci about a grief that hit @krakonos family. Our thoughts are with them. I have decided to make an exception and swap players for Doubles - @davidthompson57 replaced @krakonos in Team 1.

Singles

Friday, August 9
Team 1 @bucipuci vs Team 3 @itz.inno 41:13

Saturday, August 10
Team 1 @davidthompson57 vs Team 3 @merthin 24:39

Doubles

Sunday, August 11
Team 1 (@bucipuci AND @krakonos -> @davidthompson57) vs Team 3 (@merthin AND @mushanov) (23+25) : (30+19)

The deciding Doubles match was very close. Team 3 (@merthin, @itz.inno and @mushanov) have won the Gold. Congratulations! Silver goes to Team 1 (@bucipuci, @krakonos and @davidthompson57). There was no Bronze medal match, therefore Team 2 and Team 5 are both recognized as medalists.

4x100 Relay

Team Orange ended the relay on August 7 - well ahead all the others - and won the Gold medal. Teams Blue and Green both finished on August 10. A photo-finish*) showed Team Blue ahead of Green and therefore the former gets the Silver. Team Red did not finish.

*) Scores of all 4 runners, without handicaps and without capping at 100.

*) The Decathlon event was cancelled. However, @asia-pl, @awah, @davidthompson57, @erikklok, @itz.inno, @manuvert
@merthin, @racibo, @trezzahn did care to take an extra action, therefore they will be rewarded with 2 ranking points.

Season 19 Heads-Up

The next season will be held in September, after @poliac Season 19 ends. We will return to the usual format (24 players with group phase followed by playoffs).

The best 8 players of the Olympics, as per Ranking points shown above, will get free entry to Season 19 and they will be top seeded in the group phase:

  1. @bucipuci
  2. @merthin
  3. @danmaruschak
  4. @manuvert
  5. @erikklok
  6. @new.things
  7. @sk1920
  8. @fredkese

Note:

I am open to running one additional event in parallel. If there's enough interest, we could have one of the following:

  • Tennis (8 teams of 4 players; 2 Singles game and a Doubles decider, if needed)
  • 4x100 Relay (6 teams of 4 players + substitute)
  • Cycling (24 participants at max)
  • Decathlon (unlimited, but players need to comment with their scores)

thank you for active participation. Hope to see you next season!

Any feedback on the events? If we run any of them in the future, how should they look like? Same / changed formats? Which were engaging and which not quite so?

if we run Tennis another time, I think we will have teams of 4 players, so that the Doubles are not played by the same people who played Singles.

Awesome achievement by most competitors! Great to see I've reached a nice fifth place. I wouldn't have expected that beforehand. Thanks again for organising! It was so much fun 🙌

When I look at the results of the #macfit Olympics, I did much better than the Czech athletes at the Paris Games :-D.

Big thanks again for the great organization to @macfit aka @merthin.

Sometimes I would repeat tennis or relay. It's really about "team work" :-)

I liked the 4x100 Relay event, even though it was a lot of admin work. Some of the players were really all in. But I am quite sure that some didn't even know they run in a relay and others count on them...

This was also the case with "our" relay. @krakonos didn't even know he was included in the team.
In the next similar event, the leaders of the individual teams will have to warn and somehow "motivate" their teammates.

Perhaps it would be appropriate to "assemble" individual teams on a "national" basis. For the Czech Republic, it could be @actifit-godfish, @kap1, @krakonos and @rostik924, who submit their daily reports for ACTIFIT more or less regularly.

For me, it's more about whether I forget or not. I'm having a bit of a dill season with photography, not that I don't have the material, but I just don't feel like it. So at least the Actifit

Každý krok se počítá :-). Jde jen o to "nezapomenout"

Si občas vzpomenu v 23.00 když se chystám spát, ono je to jedno kdy se to pošle? Teda pokud je to ten den?

Hlášení jde poslat i druhý den než pošleš nové hlášení.
Např. 14.8. můžeš poslat 15.8. než pošleš aktuální datum (15.8.)

I was pondering that idea and had a great Polish team in mind. But would we be able to assemble 6-8 national teams? Based on @poliac roster, we could have CZ, BG, PL, US+CA, maybe APAC, perhaps BENELUX, if @browery joins them and UK if @cezary-io helps them

It would be worth considering. A couple of "national teams" and maybe teams by continents.

it's worth pursuing, running under your country flag certainly gives more motivation than being on "Team Blue"!

It would definitely be more interesting :-)

A belated congrats to everybody, great stepping!
Personally, I finished just below the podium, they say it's the worst place, but I'm happy with that!
