Consolation Cup - Weekend Two Results

Hello,

Consolation Cup players have been very disciplined and all have posted their report cards for Weekend Two in a timely manner. Thank you!

Have a look at the match between @stdd and @davidxxl. The former had a score much higher than other pairs' winners, yet it wasn't enough to advance to Weekend Three. I am thinking of breaking my own rules and finding some Lucky Loser scheme. Not sure about it. Anyhow, @stdd will get the "Best Eliminated Award" for this round. Pairs for Weekend Three will be announced on Wednesday (we need to wait for results from Super League, as the two best players eliminated from it during Weekend Two, will join Consolation Cup in Weekend Three).

Meanwhile, Super League players are also in their Weekend Two. We have two report cards from most players, so please scroll below to see the current standings. Super League continues thru Sunday and Monday. A long weekend for them!

After Weekend Two, six players with the lowest CUMULATIVE score will be eliminated (the two best of them will be transferred into Consolation Cup).

Reminder: my original intention had been to allow players to earn extra points in a writing contest. I had also intended to create a prize pool as a side effect. But so far only @merthin has posted and looks like no one else is interested...

I agree keeping out alex @stdd who made a remarkable score is not fair. You could change by making a semi-final all against all 5/6 players best 2 won or if you really want to keep the formula I gladly give my place to @stdd.

Grazie @davidxxl for your ideas. The one of you "sacrificing" your won slot has been rejected ;-)

In Weekend Three, the four winners of Weekend Two will be joined by two players eliminated from Super League. If I admit @stdd as Lucky Loser, there will be 7 players. As a rule, I do not like tampering with the regulations that had been set forth (FIVB (Volleyball association) is infamous for that...), but I see a way out which sounds fair to me. Here it is:

  • the 6 players will compete normally, play-off mode (next Friday and Saturday)
  • @stdd score from the same days will be noted
  • after Weekend Three of Super League, one eliminated player joins Consolation Cup for Weekend Four (Semifinal)
  • that player's scores on Friday and Saturday will be matched against @stdd
    -- we can do it only post factum, as Super League play over 4 days - so we won't know who that player is going to be until the following Wednesday
  • the better of the two will play in Consolation Cup semifinal
