I Am Alive Challenge : September 5 2024

All's well here. Day hasn't been all the best. Personally, days been good. The problem has to do with work. Production hasn't been the best. We are slightly lagging behind the other shifts.

Manufacturing Manager called for a meeting to discuss our problems but he didn't show up. Imaging closing from night shift and being asked to stay in to wait for the MM only for him to cancel later on and say he wouldn't be able to come.

The unfortunate thing is the bus left us behind and we had to find our own way to get home. I was really pissed off but there's little I could do. Next time, I'm not waiting. Even if the CEO or company owner asks, I'm still not waiting. All things work together for good for they that love the Lord. In all things, I'm grateful to God for a job and for life.

Getting a job in most parts of Africa is a challenge, even bad jobs. Minimum daily wage in Ghana is ¢18 which is just about $1.80. For reference, an average size loaf of bread is ¢15. A cup of tea is around ¢7. Politicians don't see anything wrong.

There has been calls from people in the diaspora encouraging citizens to leave Ghana to other countries whenever they have a chance. Unemployment is so bad that people are going to Iraq for nanny and housekeeping jobs rather than stay here. In all things, God is good.
