Description from Strava: It's the weekend!

thank goodness for that!

It's been a long old week in the office, and as we are still working manually (the system is still broken) we have all been in the office all week (rather than working 2 days at home). This means I have had 6am starts all week, and I was starting to suffer lol.

Today should have been parkrun day. But to do it still requires me to get up early. I decided I'd rather have a lay in, so I did!

Getting up at 9am and feeling a bit more awake, I had a look on Google maps to to see if I could find anywhere new to run. After 20mins of searching, I finally decided on a 15km route into Lincoln and back. It incorporated 2 smaller routes I have done previously into a larger circular route

After some breakfast (Shreddies if you were wondering) I laced up my trainers and headed out. The first part was simply out of the village and down the hill. At the bottom I turned right, and headed along past the fire station, and then over to Pelham Bridge. There are several routes through the city, and I chose to avoid the busy High Street.

While crossing Pelham Bridge, I paused to take a photo of Lincoln Cathedral, up on the hill overlooking the city. Its a beautiful building, even though I'm not religious in the slightest lol. After this I made a turn and headed down Monks Road. It's a long road to drive down, and even longer to run it! By this point I was up near the top of town (and not far away from where I work)

By this point I was about halfway. I headed out East to join up with the bypass. This is part of the new section which has a footpath/cycle path running alongside it. The bypass runs all the way round the Eastern side of the city down to Bracebridge Heath (ie my home). The bypass is a bit boring (a footpath surrounded by fields), but at least there are no people to get in my way haha!

After plodding along the footpath for about 8km, I eventually made it back to the village. It was an enjoyable little route in the end, and definitely one I would consider again for a long run.

Hopefully next week I will be awake enough for parkrun, but we shall see how it goes!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
