Description from Strava: My training has fallen off a cliff recently, with a general lack of motivation, and my current injury niggles not really helping with that!
Im trying to get back into the groove, but its not easy, especially as we are currently in the middle of the festive season. Instead instead of fighting it, i decided to just embrace it. Im going to enjoy the occasion, and also the food, and then i can get back on it in the new year.
As Christmas's go, today was a strange one, as it was the first one since my mother passed away earlier this year. Usually we visit various parts of the family, but today i decided to invite dad around to join us, as i didnt like the idea of him being at home alone today.
Sad circumstances aside, it was quite a nice day in the end. He popped round mid morning, where we swapped presents. He got a new watch, i got some new music and some MORE running socks, and my partner received some new wildlife reference boojs to add to her ever growing library.
We had dinner sharp at 1... roast turkey with ALL the trimmings, and then afterwards we went an a short afternoon walk around the village. It was a little cool out there this afternoon, but still a pleasant walk nonetheless. I was surprised how quiet it was though, thought there would have been more people out and about.
My dad left about 5ish, and we had a little bit of time to through something together for tea before the new Wallace and Gromit film premiered on tv
its well worth a watch by the way, a very easy-going, easy to watch film, and definitely the highlight of yet another disappointing xmas tv schedule.
Tomorrow will be a visit to see her parents on boxing day, where we will be playing board ganes for most of the day. And then on Friday i'll be back in the office, and just like that it will all be over for another year!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

I totally get the hibernation mode though, once I get through this week, and into the new year, then I can begin to get back on track
