This run helped dannewton burn 658.0 calories.

Description from Strava: Brrr! It been chuffin' cold here today!

Since that unexpected bit of snowfall which appeared on Monday night, its been properly chilly here with daytime 'highs' of 3 to 4C, although with the windchill its close to feeling like -5C at times.

There has been no more snow though, just really, really cold conditions.

I had mentioned in my previous post, that I hadn't really planned to go for a run on Tuesday evening as I was expecting the snow too make conditions to dangerous, but by the time the evening arrived, it didn't actually look to bad out. The snow was still un-melted on the grass, but the paths looked to be mostly clear where the sun had warmed it, and the roads were completely clear.

The worry was that some of it would half melt, and then freeze into black ice as the temperatures plummeted

I needed to walk to the post office first so I could post a parcel, so it would be a chance to check what the conditions were like underfoot. The walk to the shops was fine, and so I felt confident about going for a run afterwards

I was of course sensible, and kept very local to roads/paths I knew was clear.

I mean yes sure, I really want to go out and run, but its not worth the risk of injury!

There is a small loop around the housing estate I live on, and I decided to just run around that until I had completed either 5km or 30 mins of running, that turned out to be 7 laps. Once I finished, I of course went through my stretching exercises, I think that the Calf Variation that the physio showed me has really made a difference

There was a day off from training on Wednesday, and then today it was time for another run. I really wanted to go further, especially as my injury niggle is definitely improving, but the conditions remain the same... very cold, but very dry.

And so I decided to keep it safe and stick to the local loop again. You can see in that picture, there is still snow around, but it is completely clear from the roads. In todays session I did 10 'lap's of the loop for approx 8km. I guess that makes the maths easy, each loop is 0.8km long!

This cold snap isn't particularly cold, as we are used to getting freezing temperatures during Winter, but it is very strange considering the time of year, this doesn't usually happen in Novemeber.

And to prove the point, the weather forecast is due to change drastically at the weekend, with heavy rain on both Saturday and Sunday. Even more noticeable is the increase in temperature, so that at 6am on Saturday morning it will be just 1C, but the strong southerly winds will bring warm air up, so much so that by midnight on Saturday it is going to be 14C!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the weather is broken!

I was going to try another attempt at parkrun on Saturday, but looking at that forecast, I'm likely to be washed away! So we shall see on that... I do at least hope to get out for a longer run at some point over the weekend, all part of my road to recovery

Such views are much more beautiful in winters, after the snowfall, I also wish to spend the rest of my life in a similar area.
