Evening Run - 6km (easy recovery and then snow!)
dannewton just finished a 6.35km run, that lasted for 39 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 497.0 calories.
Description from Strava: Sorry, its a slightly click bait cover photo... the snow has been falling for about an hour, and has rather unexpectedly started to settle. Its part of a sudden cold snap we are experiencing here in the UK. Its only November so its a little early for proper snow, but it does show that Winter is coming!
It us forecast to snow all night, but most of this will melt tomorrow in the sunshine.
It does mean there is a real risk of ice tomorrow where the snow half melts, and then freezes solid... it will be treacherous for running (and walking), and that is the main reason i made an effort to get out for a run earlier this evening. I had a rare Monday in the office today, whereas i usually try to have the Monday working at home.
there are several reasons for that, but its mostly because i like to have an easier day to start the week, and working at home means no commuting and thus some extra time in bed
I was in the office because I'm applying for a new job (a promotion) and was told that the interviews would be held today, and that turned out to be incorrect. By the time i was told this, i had already been given the rota for the week, and couldn't be bothered to change it. Working in the office means a later finish too, and so it wasn't until 6pm that I arrived home.
I knew wintery showers were on the way, so i got changed quickly and headed back out . It was properly cold out there at just 1C, and so i had a hat and some gloves on, but still just shorts and t-shirt... that was pushing it today in these freezing temperatures, but i knew i cold handle 40 minutes. And 40 minutes was all i had planned today, just an easy recovery run.
Hip update - improvements continue, and it took until 4km before any soreness appeared. I'm am taking it easy, but do feel the stretching exercises are working, particularly the calf stretch variation that i was advised to do
As i was nearby back home, i thought i could just see the hint of snow in the streetlights... only once i had tea and a shower did i look out and see the light covering of snow in the pictures. I do enjoy snow, but not the ice that follows, which means that unless it melts away completely i won't be running tomorrow
I do need to post a parcel after work tomorrow so I'll have to brave the icy conditions anyway!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

You got more than us. We just had a dusting on the cars and it didn't last long. It may be colder tonight, but I'm not sure more snow is due.
I won't be running again for a while, but I was back at the office today.

I think we got about 3 inches in the end, and from what I can tell, it was very localized. Mostly melted on the paths/roads now, and then what ever is left will be washed away by the torrential rain on Saturday
Sorry to hear you are not running at the moment, at least you're still being active and get walks in, hope you have a swift recovery!

Cheers. I try to get out every day for a walk, but it hurts after a while. I just have to ride it out.
My daughter had snow in Portsmouth today, but that didn't last either. We just had frost today. Snow is just a pain if you need to get anywhere. When I was working in London it snowed sometimes and just made getting home difficult.
