How Should You Decide on the Things You Need to Do in Order to Achieve Success?
Hi, dear friends!
It is fair to suggest that we are all living busy and crowded lives which hardly leave any room for creativity, improvisation, or taking risks.
This might have been a question of yours at some point in your life: How do I manage everything that I am simultaneously doing?
How do I decide on the things that I need to do in order to achieve success?
Well, today, I have a simple formula that you can follow in this regard.
Phil Daniels once theorized that a useful and effective way of approaching the things on our list is dividing them into three categories: Stop – Keep Doing – Start
Let us start with the simplest one: Stopping.
There are many habits and tendencies in our life that are detrimental to the general state of our mental and physical well-being, and that is why we should seek to immediately put a stop to them.
This is the first category, so you will need to think of everything that is harming you or is not suitable for your ultimate vision.
Stop that activity or habit immediately and seek to put something else in its place.
That brings us to the second one: Starting.
There are many things that you feel like doing… things that you need to do in order to accomplish a particular thing or expand your area of expertise and improve your skills.
These are the things that you will have to start doing.
Many of these new things are really difficult to start doing.
We all have our comfort zone and we will go through any length to protect it at all costs. Have the courage to leave your comfort zone and try new things on a daily basis.
Ultimately, a part of your daily schedule should be dedicated to doing new things that will steadily improve your life.
Last but not least come the activities that you need to Keep Doing.
There are many things that we are already doing in order to achieve our goals and realize our dreams. These are the things that need to remain in our life.
If you ask me, when you reach the conclusion that you should keep doing something in your life and that thing is actually helping you, then it is best if you dedicate your focus and even try to DO IT BETTER than before!
If you are the sort of person who gets easily confused by the sheer number of things that they have to do on a daily basis, then use these simple parameters to determine the importance of everything in your life.
There are things that you should start doing.
There are things that you should stop doing. And there are things that you should keep doing.
This is a practice that should be done day to day.
Dedicate a small portion of your day and think about everything that you can start doing, everything that you should keep doing, and everything that you should stop doing.
At the end of this exercise this you will have reached peak productivity!

Dear @chbartist,
Our mind needs to assimilate and organize new information. So, we need to stop (relax) for several minutes between tasks to achieve a peak productivity.
@chbartist I agree with all your wording as briefing about selling ideas to achieve the success is a big deal for a loser. But the thing which matters a lot to understand our mindset and psychology to move in care fully in our surroubdings then we will find out our ways if success

Greetings @chbartist
Life is complicated if we do not carry it correctly. The availability of tools to validate and correct our actions is an important aspect to guarantee success. These three tools that you lend today have a lot of power. First, stop or stop doing what no longer has value, we will gain time and energy; Second, to continue doing what is generating results, will keep us on track to meet the objectives Third, starting new goals will keep us on track to successI often feel sad on now a days on daily basis for producing a non productive day! I should try your mantra- Start, stop and keep doing stuff.
Hopefully that turns out to be a success.
Keep inspiring.
This is definitely something that has helped me on my journey in the past. The problem is I only did it a couple of times and as mentioned in the article, it should be done more often, preferably daily. It definitely helps you see your tasks and your future better if you evaluate your tasks and work from there. This exercise also helps you get to know yourself better, which is really important in my opinion. Only if you know yourself well and if you know how you want to change and what you want to become, can you take necessary steps to change. Thank you @chbartist for reminding me to evaluate stuff I do on a daily basis more often!
We use this concept at strategic initiatives at work and while it helps to organize, the best thing it offers is a way to clearly prioritize and execute on the key tasks set to achieve the objectives of the group. I have taken this approach on my personal tasks as well although not as organized or documented.

How can we always stay focused and motivated towards our goals?
Originally Answered: How do I become consistent and focused on my goal?
Let me start my answer with a beautiful poem by famous poet Mirza Ghalib:
I have thousands of desires, each so big that I can die for it.
I have fulfilled some of them, but they are very few.
We are all filled with numerous desires. These desires pulls us in every direction. We run from one desire to another as we wish to fulfill all. Instead of moving onwards any direction, we move in the Brownian motion.
The result is that we reach nowhere even though travel a lot of distance and spend a lot of energy.
If you wish to focus on one goal and one desire, you must forgo all others. This is the most difficult task for any person.
We simply don’t want to lose anything and always think of gaining everything.
In our attempt to have everything in life, we end up getting nothing of any value.
You have to decide yourself as to which desire is the most important in your life not only for present but also for future. You must decide what you wish to be after five years, after ten years or after twenty five years from now. Once you've fixed your goal, drop all other goals and follow that one goal with full force and passion till you've achieved it.
Swami Vivekananda once said
“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, and live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success that is way great spiritual giants are produced.”
If you can follow one goal and discard all other goals in life, there is no reason why you won’t be able focus on your goal and achieve consistent good results.

Originally Answered: How do I keep myself motivated so as to give my best to achieve my goals?
Motivation is the basic ingredient of success. Call it "burning desire to excel" or whatever, but this makes all the difference. Successful people are highly motivated.
Swami Vivekananda said, "Arise, awake and do not stop until the goal is reached." But we are mere mortals who know what our goal is , what we want , but yet turn out to be lazy when it comes to action. So here I have listed certain tips which I find good enough to discipline ourselves into achieving our goals:
Have powerful reasons. Write them down. Know your reasons. Give them some thought and write them down. If you have loved ones, and you are doing it for them, that is more powerful than just doing it for self-interest. Doing it for yourself is good too, but you should do it for something that you really want to happen, for really good reasons.
Post a picture of your goal someplace visible — near your desk or on your refrigerator, for example. Visualizing your goal, exactly how you think it will be when you’ve achieved it, whether it’s financial goals like traveling to Rome or building a dream house, or physical goals like finishing a marathon or getting a flat stomach, is a great motivator and one of the best ways of actualizing your goals.Find a magazine photo or a picture online and post it somewhere where you can see it not only daily, but hourly if possible. Put it as your desktop photo, or your home page. Use the power of your visual sense to keep you focused on your goal. Because that focus is what will keep you motivated over the long term — once you lose focus, you lose motivation, so having something to keep bringing your focus back to your goal will help keep that motivation.
Get a workout partner or goal buddy. Staying motivated on your own is tough. But if you find someone with similar goals (running, dieting, finances, etc.), see if they’d like to partner with you. Or partner with your spouse, sibling or best friend on whatever goals they’re trying to achieve. You don’t have to be going after the same goals — as long as you are both pushing and encouraging each other to succeed.
Make a big public commitment. Be fully committed. This will do the trick every time. Create a blog and announce to the world that you are going to achieve a certain goal by a certain date.Tell all your family members that from now onward I will do so and so. Commit yourself to the hilt.
Visualize your goal clearly, on a daily basis, for at least 5-10 minutes. Visualize your successful outcome in great detail. Close your eyes, and think about exactly how your successful outcome will look, will feel, will smell and taste and sound like. Where are you when you become successful? How do you look? What are you wearing? Form as clear a mental picture as possible. Now here’s the next key: do it every day. For at least a few minutes each day. This is the only way to keep that motivation going over a long period of time.
Just get started. There are some days when you don’t feel like heading out the door for a run, or figuring out your budget, or whatever it is you’re supposed to do that day for your goal. Well, instead of thinking about how hard it is, and how long it will take, tell yourself that you just have to start. You just have to put on your running shoes and close the door behind yourself. After that, it all flows naturally. It’s when you’re sitting in your house, thinking about running and feeling tired, that it seems hard. Once you start, it is never as hard as you thought it would be. This tip works every time.
Make it a pleasure. One reason we might put off something that will help us achieve our goal, such as exercise for example, is because it seems like hard work. Well, this might be true, but the key is to find a way to make it fun or pleasurable. If your goal activity becomes a treat, you actually look forward to it. And that’s a good thing.
Break it into smaller, mini goals. Sometimes large or longer-term goals can be overwhelming. After a couple weeks, we may lose motivation, because we still have several months or a year or more left to accomplish the goal. It’s hard to maintain motivation for a single goal for such a long time. Solution: have smaller goals along the way.
Give it time, be patient. I know, this is easier said than done. But the problem with many of us is that we expect quick results. When you think about your goals, think long term. If you want to lose weight, you may see some quick initial losses, but it will take a long time to lose the rest. If you want to run a marathon, you won’t be able to do it overnight. If you don’t see the results you want soon, don’t give up … give it time. In the meantime, be happy with your progress so far, and with your ability to stick with your goals. The results will come if you give it time.
Become aware of your urges to quit, and be prepared for them. We all have urges to stop, but they are mostly unconscious. One of the most powerful things you can do is to start being more conscious of those urges. A good exercise is to go through the day with a little piece of paper and put a tally mark for each time you get an urge. It simply makes you aware of the urges. Then have a plan for when those urges hit, and plan for it beforehand, and write down your plan, because once those urges hit, you will not feel like coming up with a plan. Just remember: Winners never quit, and quitters never win.
Reward yourself. Often. And not just for longer-term goals, either. Above, I talked about breaking larger goals into smaller, mini goals. Well, each of those mini goals should have a reward attached to it. Make a list of your goals, with mini goals, and next to each, write down an appropriate reward. By appropriate, I mean 1) it’s proportionate to the size of the goal (don’t reward going on a 1-mile run with a luxury cruise in the Bahamas); and 2) it doesn’t ruin your goal — if you are trying to lose weight, don’t reward a day of healthy eating with a dessert binge. It’s self-defeating.
Find inspiration, on a daily basis. Inspiration is one of the best motivators, and it can be found everywhere. Every day, seek inspiration, and it will help sustain motivation over the long term. Sources of inspiration can include: blogs, online success stories, forums, friends and family, magazines, books, quotes, music, photos, people you meet.
Create a friendly, mutually-supportive competition. We are all competitive in nature, at least a little. Some more than others. Take advantage of this part of our human nature by using it to fuel your goals. If you have a workout partner or goal buddy, you’ve got all you need for a friendly competition. See who can log more miles, or save more dollars, each week or month. See who can do more push ups or pull ups. See who can lose the most weight or have the best abs or lose the most inches on their waist. Make sure the goals are weighted so that the competition is fairly equal. And mutually support each other in your goals.
Always think positive. Monitor your thoughts. Be aware of your self-talk. We all talk to ourselves, a lot, but we are not always aware of these thoughts. Start listening. If you hear negative thoughts, stop them, push them out, and replace them with positive thoughts. Positive thinking can be amazingly powerful.
activities that generate/possibility create the results you want. Plus take notice of the 80/20 rule.

I think one bad habit I need to stop doing is procrastinating, and just starting, even if it's the smallest thing.
I tend to get over-whelmed by the amount of work I have to do on a project, and not start. Perhaps, I should break done my projects into smaller chunks, and start doing something, anything.
Thanks for the informative post!
