Today was my Dad's 80th. We've been planning it for weeks with loads of people coming from all corners of Europe. We had a big barbecue by the side of the river which was lovely as the sunset.

The French takes ages to eat which is quite relaxed and gives a lot of time for talking. Dinner took over 4 hours

We then had some music into the night. Great company, great party.

I slept well afterwards.

I LOVE dinners from over 4 hours! With barbecue one doens't have a lot of choices... Till the meat has been prepared...

Getting to enjoy this more while getting older I think (and especially seeing people around me getting older) Before I didn't stand still that I was away all the time, and even though I enjoyed the time with my family, let's say between two destinations, I spent a lot of time without them as well. Meanwhile my mother has died, 3 from my 4 grandparents have died, and the 4th probably doesn't even recognize me any more, and my father is getting old... A few years ago (and more and more) I'm having a serious wake up call! This is what my remaining grandfather used to say: enjoy the time with each other and love each other when you can. After that (when one dies) it's too late! !LUV !CTP

Most eat-all-you-can restaurants I know limit the dining time of each customer to 90 to 120 minutes. 🤓 Even with that restriction, those restaurants are still full most of the time. 😅 !LUV !CTP

90 minutes is too short if I want to go out eating the way I like it. I don't like to eat as much as I can in the shortest possible time, but rather sit and relax (and keep on eating !LOL) !CTP

People who are already frequently eating at eat-all-you-call restaurants know that they should avoid eating filler foods (such as bread and rice) as well as drinking ordinary beverages (such as soft drinks and iced tea) to be able to eat more of their favorite food choices at the restaurant. 🤓 !LOL !CTP

!LOL indeed, but anyway you see people making this mistake over and over again...
I just eat the things that I really like to eat and from these (because I like a loooooot of different food) first these that are more expensive when I'd order them elsewhere or these I can't order elsewhere easily...

I think that it's mostly people who dine at eat-all-you-can restaurants for the first time make that mistake of eating food types that are cheap and easy to get at standard (non-eat-all-you-can) restaurants. 🤔😏 !LOLZ !CTP
