wow, this game looks interesting. i wish i understand how they play it. i really do much of football here.
No-hitters are really rare. I don't think it happens quite often. How many different pitchers did they use for the game?
Turnbull pitched all 9 innings. Hinch had someone warm up in the 9th after Turnbull walked the first hitter.
5th No Hitter this season. Every hitter is trying to hit a Home Run, every pitcher is trying to throw a strikeout. This leads to more walks. More walks in the game mean less hits in the field of play.
Much is made about the velocity of pitches and pitchers being too good, the problem is that pitchers are willing to walk more hitters rather than chance it with a pitch that makes poor contact.
If a pitcher botches nowadays, it's usually due to throwing a Fastball in the bottom half of the strike zone or throwing a hanging curveball or slider.
