Wednesday walk challenge East River Roundabout and Steem Basic Income Give away

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Try to limit yourself to a set distance or time from the starting location, say 5 Blocks, 5 Minutes walk or whatever and see what you can find in that short distance

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all.

Following me and resteeming the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion, but you may have a better chance of receiving a Steem Basic Income Share if you do.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, resteem and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk, plus I will be sending @steembasicincomeshares to a selection of those who participate.

Actifit

A good App that works well in conjunction with the Wednesday Walk or any day walk is @actifit, which rewards you with Actifit Tokens and Steemit Upvotes, if you use the app to track your steps and do a post of your actifit total each day.

If you do a lot of activity I do recommend you check it out

The East River Esplanade

Now I am not sure exactly what this area is called where i took a walk recently, on google Maps its called the East River Esplanade and Andrew Haswell Green Park, but I also saw a Sign calling it the East River Rondabout.
This was a walk a took one day I believe after Lunch and stretching my legs.

As you can see from this first shot Its a nice walkway that goes a good distance alongside the East River on the Manhattan side of the river

This next shot is heading up a Walkway/ramp heading to a bridge where you can walk over the DFR Highway.

Now I know these photos focus on a small area of my walk and you may think it was a short walk, but it was a good walk from the office to the deli where I had lunch, then to this park and then back to my office

Steem Basic Income give away

I mentioned in the guidelines that from this week I will be sponsoring a few who join the #wednesdaywalk challenge with shares on Steem Basic Income

What is Steem Basic Income you may ask well here is how they explain it

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content. so I have decided to send some Steem Basic Income shares to 5 people selected through a random draw so on the weekend all people who joined in last weeks Wednesday walk. @dronegraphica, @rosargelisperez, @bigtom13, @almi, @jayna, all people who joined in last weeks Wednesday walk . And a special bonus this week @elizacheng will send one SBI share to denissemata,

I would love to be able to give everyone who joins a Steem Basic Income share, but I don't make enough steem each week to do so, but I will try and share them around fairly between those that join the challenge

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Looks like a beautiful day! Where the heck were all the people though? Or is that normally a quiet spot? You don't often see pics of NY with so few people around, but I like it. 😉

Thanks and this is an out of the way spot I guess not many people know about it and hence why it is so quiet there even in the middle of the day

Beautiful and under used? In Manhattan? Really? Is there toxic waste or anything involved with that?

Thanks for a terrific and unexpected walk. My Wednesday Walk may show itself on Thursday because I haven't taken it yet. I have plans for a 'different' sort of walk today and I'll post it, but it might not make it for a day...

And thank you for the SBI share. I really do appreciate it.

Firstly no worries if your walk post is tomorrow 👍😎
I think this spot is fairly new and out if the way so not very well known by many hence so quiet there

On most of your walks, the weather looks fabulous.
Pedestrian bridges, we have a couple of them, even though we live in a very rural area.

Best comment I have seen in a while. I am surprised someone made it flat and did not just leave it round. LoL.

Great shots! I will never understand how you get so many shots with so few people in them. Especially in NYC. You are either very lucky or very good at editing them out :)

Thanks, Often the reason why there is not many people is that most of my walks are early morning while many are just thinking about getting up
I must do a walk during a busier time to get people in shots sometime ;)

That looks like quite a walk to me mate, by the time you get back from the deli you would have walked off the calories from the deli 😇

Interesting that the area has several names. Esplanade sounds very Victorian. They were very keen on walking by the rivers and coastlines for the health benefits.

Yes Esplanade does sound Victorian indeed, we have a few spots back in NZ with the same name
Yes I got in a good walk that day and burnt off any calories I ate for sure ;)
Thanks for the support

Third photo with the river showing the power of water is definitely my choice for today.

Walkway looks very secure which is great for walking but not being able to get great photography with meshing so high.

Thanks for great walk about once again!

Thanks and yes the river was flowing quite strongly that day and yes the meshing did make it a challenge for photos

thanks for your visit ;)

Love the blue skies in all your shots, but my favorite has to be the first one. That perspective, with the ever smaller light poles, is wicked eye-catching!

I think because this place is fairly new and off the busy areas it is not well known and hence why not many people where there

@tattoodjay you really caught the sky beautifully today. Especially that last pic. It's sings of the east coast of America. Crisp and blue.

Ps to anyone else I submitted my wednesdaywalk here; https://partiko.app/ozkdawg/wednesday-walk-a-simple-walk-with-blondie-to-to-a-cafe-8j31b4gj?referrer=ozkdawg

Finally I love sbi enteries. Some really talented people joining the movement.

First I have to admit my Post wasnt from today, with me doing my Wednesday walk post at 7Am, I generally share photos from a walk over the previous week, I ask people if they can to share their walk on A Wednesday but the walk does not have to be on the same day :)
I think the SBI initiative is brilliant so am glad to be able to give shares out to a small selection of the people that join the Walk each week :)

A wonderful view of some of the walkway bridges, i really like the one that looks half round and has that cool looking lamp and shadow. Deep blue skies and just enough fluffy clouds to make it look real good.

Well here was my short walk from Sunday, although it is a small park, it was still a fun photo-walk. https://steemit.com/wednesdaywalk/@bashadow/wednesdaywalk-erik-hansen-scout-park-kenai-alaska

Glad you liked it. Now that I CAN walk, if I feel secure in walking
Around with an expensive camera around my neck, I hope to get
Some more interesting things in this area before I move on.

(Edited)

Actually, I'm not. This device comes equipped (supposedly) with WIFI and
Bluetooth connectivity, to send photos to your phone (BT) or for remote
Shutter control (wifi). Damned thing doesn't work.
The DAY I got the camera, I linked the phone to the camera and took some photos of me from behind (so I could see how shaggy I've gotten)
image.png
Never more after that, could I get that remote function to work
I tried for 10 days to get some support from NIKON, they kept sending me the
SAME damned self-help link.
I took the camera back to MicroCenter where I bought it (store warranty)
Most of them didn't know cameras, but they do know electronics. They
Couldn't get it to work either, so we exchanged the camera for a new one.
Then, standing there in the store, we got it to connect, and I took one
(more or less accidental) photo triggered from my phone.
image.png
Which once I got home, I managed to bring up, and thought about
Using for your Monochrome Monday
image.png
I left the store, went to a friends house, showed him the camera, and after
Considerable fiddling, we got it to link phone to camera, snapped a few
Shots of his dog...they didn't get saved anywhere.
Now since I've been home (all that was yesterday) I have not been able
to link phone and camera
. It's an endless round of turn on wifi, it will
Say the camera is linked to another device, go turn off bluetooth, I do
That, which turns off the wifi and around we go again.
Other than that, the camera is far too complex, it will take me forever
To learn all the bells and whistles, but I will. I Promise

Sorry to hear you having such headaches with the connectivity, I wish I could help but i have never used Nikon, and also I never send photos to my phone from the camera, I upload them onto my computer

As for learning the camera, I would suggest you take it slowly do not try to learn everything at once or it will only confuse the heck out of you

I would say first start using the auto Mode and have fun with it, and then when you have time read up a little about Aperture and priority modes, there the next step, and dont even think of manual shooting for a while yet

0

0.000
avatar

I really have no interest in sending them to my phone, the only thing I would
Want is the remote control, if I'm alone at a gig and want to start and
Stop the video recording, that would be MOST handy.
Photos sent to the phone are tiny compared to what are saved in the
Camera, and they are, despite being sent to the phone.
Thanks JJ
