Weekend Road Trip with my Favorite Gals! {Relaxing at Navarre Beach}
Hey Steem Fam! I hope everyone is starting out the week well so far. I very much enjoyed my weekend at the beach with some gal pals to recharge the mind and body. I hadn't taken any time off really all year, so it was well past time to load up the car for a quick road trip. Besides being so long since I had taken a vacation at all, it had also been quite some time since doing so with close friends. There really is something special about taking time out of our busy schedules to enjoy each other's company for longer than just one evening at a time. So good for the soul!
I actually got very few pictures of all of us since part of my personal plan for the weekend was to reach for my phone as little as possible. Luckily one of the other ladies snapped some nice shots, though it may take her some time to send them all over. I did capture some nice shots of the beach here and there when I just couldn't help myself. However, the weather was not the most cooperative for our getaway. This was probably the least amount of beach time I've ever spent when going to the BEACH. As they say, you can't control the weather. I still got a good enough feel for Navarre Beach to know that I would very much enjoy another trip. Florida has plenty of lovely beaches with all different experiences to offer. This one seemed nice and quiet, which suits me just fine!
After about 5 hours in the car, we reached our Airbnb. I've been seeing my pals @dandays and @puravidaville enjoy their stays using the site all across the world, but this was my first time booking. We were all so impressed with the little condo where we stayed. I already left a nice review for the hosts sharing how awesome it was to have a clean, well-stocked home away from home for the weekend. All we had to do was walk across the street to get to the lovely beach. Nothing beats sticking your toes in the sand for the first time, even with strong winds and grey clouds.
I think @tattoodjay will like the pier that was only half a mile down the beach as he always shares his amazing local pier pictures. It was nice to stretch out our legs after all that car time, as well as get the lay of the land. No one was in the water since they had a double red flag due to rip tide conditions. The weather was a bit cool for my swimming pleasure anyway.
The underside of the pier made for some cool photos, but then we also walked around to get on top and stroll down the length.
Upon returning from our walk, we cracked open some beverages, put on comfy clothes and proceeded to laugh and enjoy the evening. At some point the other three ladies decided that despite the copious amounts of snacks that we brought, they had a hankering for pizza. I can't recall the entire exchange as my friend called to place the order, but the gentleman on the phone was thoroughly entertained. Somehow it ended up in him suggesting the 18.5-inch pizza, along with lots of giggles on our end. What's a girls trip without the fun, right? 😂 I was in the shower when the pie was delivered, so I missed that part of the exchange....
Saturday started out with more of the same weather as Friday evening, though we did sit out on the beach for a short while before retiring inside as the rains finally came in. We once again entertained ourselves with mimosas and utter garbage television until the storms passed us by. Games might have been nice, but I can't say the rare chance to totally veg out wasn't nice, too.
Luckily the weather took a turn in the right direction when we walked down to dinner! The restaurant had a nice little back patio to enjoy our meal and catch the sunset as the clouds finally cleared out just enough. I was really happy to find they had not only a vegan burger option, but also chickpea tacos. The day before the small restaurant we went to also had the most delicious vegan burrito I've ever had. Thank goodness for options to keep my belly full since this running gal can't live on snacks alone!
Speaking of...Sunday morning heralded our last few hours of vacation, but two of us got up with the sun to enjoy a four-mile run in the wee hours of the morning. It was cool and crisp, rare for most Florida mornings I've ever experienced! I was definitely happy to get the exercise before our return trip in the car. There was not only a sidewalk along the length of the road, but also a wide bike lane which offered a safe and enjoyable place to exercise.
Of course we left the day the heavens opened up for the most beautiful sights! A few of us would have loved to stay for a little longer on the beach in the sunshine, but one is a mama with a sweet little daughter at home that she was itching to return to. We did take one more walk down the pier to smell the salty air and catch a few rays on our skin to take with us.
The hours went by way too fast, but the memories will linger for a good bit longer! With our busy lives and family, work and other obligations it might be quite some time before we get another trip like this. I feel very lucky that we got the time that we did, even if there were some bumps in the road just making it happen. Fingers crossed I don't have to wait another year before the next trip...

Woohoo, my first pin in the map. :)
Great pics!!! Looks like an awesome girls trip!!!
Thanks so much! We really enjoyed the time away. A quick, inexpensive getaway! :)
Good! So good for the soul 💜😀🦚
Very much so! Even days later I can still feel the positive effects. 😊
Wonderful !!
Oooh! that looks really cold. I'd not have been dipping my tootsies in that, either. Great photos of what looks like a great place. Glad you had some much needed timeout.
Not quite polar plunge material, but definitely cold enough to keep us out of the water. Not to mention the violent waves and whipping wind, haha. The trip did the trick though, so I'll just soak up some Vitamin D another day. ;)
iheart Florida in May—thunder storms. The last time I was there I think I filmed 20 something strikes at one point in under a minute. That would’ve been Mid May probably two or three years ago.
I love it when the weather forces my hand. Dude, we’re going to frikkin Israel!! Is that insane or what?! See where Jesus was baptized, where he walked in water, I haven’t been able to shut up about it and it’s like three stays away still. Ok, enough about me.
I’m glad you enjoyed yourself, Plants. I saw you told Pura you’d totally stay there again—totally against the rules, Plants! No re-stays. It totally negates my favorite sentence..... “Wait’ll you see the next one.” 😉 I totally said totally like five times now in this sentence.
The third picture up from the bottom—man, that looks like a Kinkaid painting—nice shot.
And one more thing, because I don’t think I’ve said enough yet, that chick at the very end on the cover image, with the ponytails. Tell her I said “no, I’m not arm wresting you!”
Haha, well just because I said I'd stay there again doesn't mean I'll actually do it. Though my parents stay at the same place in Siesta Key every year for probably the past 6 years or so. Mama J can't get enough of that beach. I, however, have plenty more spots on the list to visit.
Ms. Guns on the end is from Poland and hinted that if she and her current booski get married, it will definitely be in the motherland. Which would also be a good time to visit my other pal's homeland of Germany (the gal right next to me). One of these days I'll also stow away and go to Brazil with the last lovely lady left in the photo. Pretty dope having the United Nations of Friends.
I've heard nothing but good things from folks who have visited Israel. Of course there are plenty of issues all around that volatile part of the world, but as far as the actual experience of the history it's like nothing else they say. Some friends just went on a mission trip this summer. Though I have to say it was pretty funny seeing her full body bathing suit that she had to get to work in the swim therapy session her church was volunteering at...
Beautiful beach view and looking cute all .thanks for share your weekend memories.

We very much enjoyed the quick reprieve from the real world. At least I was good about just taking the photos, then putting the phone right back away. :)
@plantstoplanks - great pics, I'm so glad you're having such a blast with your friends. I know you DESERVE it! Any day on the beach is a WIN. And BTW, we love Airbnb - it's our favorite way to travel.
I'm definitely an Airbnb fan now! There's something satisfying in getting a review back as a boarder, as well, haha. It was long awaited and very much needed time away!
No don’t wait so long again, life is to Short to no have girls weekends . Recharge and just talk walk and relax are precious weekends. I think tattoodjay wil love the pier photography l loved the blog ike it was my own weekend with the girls
Have a great day
I hope I can go ahead and get some time on the books for 2020! That's the hardest part about my job--I don't have paid vacation, so I really have to force myself to take time off! The time with the gals was a blast, though I think next up might be time with the boyfriend just the two of us as that is well overdue, too. :)
Ah... a nice day at the beach. It looks quite nice, even if it was a little overcast... I'm afraid the beach season is definitely out of the question where we are... it is cold!
Luckily it only really rained for a few hours, so it was nice to get out even with the clouds. It was a bit cool overnight, but after the hot summer we had here I don't mind that at all! Made for a very enjoyable Sunday morning run. :)

Too bad the weather wasn't cooperating, but it sounds like you all had a great time regardless. That's what's most fun and memorable about a trip with friends anyway!
The company was top notch! :)
Lovely weekend bonding! I love the beach! 😉👍

Always fun to hit the beach at least once a year. I almost didn't make it, but happy to have squeezed in a fast visit before 2019 is done. :)
Going away with friends what a lovely break even if weather was not great, perfect time to relax and chat @plantstoplanks
Love the new Gold Member - Powerhousecreatives congrats to @zord189 talent!
Isn't the gold great? @zord189 did a fantastic job as always. Now us goldies can really show out for PHC. :)
Sounds like a lovely getaway with friends. I’m glad the weather improved. One photo taken in the early morning sun with the houses in background, looks like snow or frost on the ground.
It does look a bit like snow! Just sand all around. It's amazing how they figure out how to build a strong foundation in sand. Some of the houses were really nice, and looked like lots more getting worked on and built right in that area.
Great!
Stay blessed always!
Thanks @rem-steem! :)
Such beauty on the beach, and the sunset photo was pretty too 😁 @plantstoplanks. It's nice to get away with great friends, you need to do this yearly if possible. 🙏

It was so lovely to be able to catch one sunset! The clouds cooperated just in time for a quick peek. :)

Ha! I tried to upvote this post in another front end yesterday, I think it was steempeak or something and it wouldn't allow me to reply or to vote!
Glad that you got the chance to enjoy and to make some memories my friend.
Blessings!
This darn technology, doesn't always work the way you want it to, haha. I've had many of those moments myself, though occasionally it is my own user error. :)
Hahaha, well at least you can't blame old age.
So technology makes for a good blaming source Lol
Have you seen my post yesterday of the women's fight for equality?
Thought that the warrior spirit inside you would enjoy it!
Blessings!
Ooh, I missed that post, I'll have to stop by to check it out. Thanks for letting me know!
My pleasure to let you know Katie.
Have a good weekend.
Blessings!
Times like these make me wish I was a pretty young lady. My, how much fun you girls seem to have!
Trips like these make it easier to hang on to the young part. Though the bedtimes seem to get earlier and earlier the older we get. ;)
Yeah, ain't the truth! Ha ha
What a beautiful beach @plantstoplanks. Nothing better than a nice run on or along a beach hearing the waves while you run. So glad you had a sweet getaway with your friends. You definitely deserved it, lots of girltalk and laughter :)
I was happy to check this tiny spot on the lovely Florida coastline out! A very nice beach for the little bit we spent on it. Though I don't mind running on the sand sometimes, I really enjoy having a path to run on, as well. This was a nice one with plenty of distance and of course, couldn't beat the good company. :)
It looks like you had the place about completely to yourselves! How awesome is that! Hopefully the weather wasn't too uncooperative though, but damn, even a little while without a crowd would be nice.
Haha, it really was pretty quiet! I suppose it is technically the off-season, but I think a lot of folks were hunkered down for the weather. Looked like there were a good bit of people out enjoying the sunshine as we were leaving, though nowhere near as many as I'm sure are there during the high season. That's one of the reasons it's nice to not have kids--it's a whole lot easier for me to travel outside of peak season. :)
Oh that is so true! It's a pain in the ass to travel with children, and typically you're not allowed to hog tie them to keep them in one spot. Pffft.
I can just imagine the fun you must of had with three good friends! It's been awhile since I've been on a trip with friends, other than my husband, so there was a bit of envy! And the Florida beaches - been over 30 years since I've been there! Ahh! to smell the salty air!
Thanks for sharing!
I have only taken a handful of girls trips like this, but they are always a blast! I feel very grateful to have such a wonderful group of ladies to spend time with. It will probably be a while before we can all pull away at the same time to take another trip, so it makes this one all that more special. I'm also lucky in that we can get to Florida in about 5 hours driving. Though I have plenty of other places on my travel bucket list, you can't beat the ocean breeze and call of the gulls for a quick reprieve from the usual routine!
So glad you had such a great time. Weather, no weather just made for good times.
Thanks @tryskele! In some ways perhaps having to stay in made for even more good times. Close quarters fosters great conversation and lots of laughter. :)

What good pictures and what a good trip, I need something like that urgently!
Oh yes, I hope you can find some time for a little getaway like this! It went by so quickly, but so worth it to have a mini vacation from everything!
Great photos, and it looks like you all had a wonderful time! I've never been to the ocean... flew over it a few times, but saw more of the "cloud ocean" than the real one lol...
That is correct... you know the saying, about the phrase "cell phone" and that many feel it's a perfect explanation. Yet, technology has been so inter=twined into our society, that I wonder just what would happen if we "didn't" have them! Can you imagine!! Anyway... appreciate you sharing your adventure with us... I am sure you made some memories, and wow... isn't that what life is all about?

Thanks so much for your kind words and the curation! I'm happy to share a little piece of the ocean with you. I grew up in New Jersey getting to go to the shore in the summers, and my aunt lives down in Florida so we used to visit at least once a year down there so the ocean is an old friend. It is so soothing to listen to the waves crashing and just be with your own thoughts. Or in this case, share those thoughts with good pals. The stuff of life, indeed.
Howdy plantstoplanks! What a wonderful time that was for all of you, good for you! The photos are great as well, I love this post!
Morning there @janton! A glorious time all around. Happy to share the experience with you all so you can enjoy a piece of it, as well. :)
It surely was a thing of beauty plantstoplanks!
