Miscellanies around Wontong-Jeon Hall in Chiljangsa Temple, Anseong City
Wontong-Jeon hall must've been a very important building in Chiljangsa temple. Its style told us that Wontong-Jeon seemed to be the oldest architecture in this temple. In my guess, Wontong-Jeon looks older than Daewoong-Jeon.
I looked around slowly. What I was interested in was the wooden ornaments under the eaves.
There were two imaginary animals were carved. One was the dragon, the other was the phoenix. The interesting thing was these carvings seemed to have the abstract characteristics.
The small bell under the eaves was my favorite thing in the temple. It makes a sound with the wind. Strong wind makes sometimes hysteric sound, but usually, slow wind makes a nice and adorable sound.
There was no wind when I dropped by the temple, so I couldn't hear the sound of the bell.

Amazing handcraft to create such dragon shaped wood, love it.
As to the bell, when I look at it, the little metal plate immediately reminded me a whale. That is really funny, I am wondering if the people living the time when Chiljangsa Temple was built knew whales or not?
