Steem Basic Income

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Upvotes by Voting Account


Our automated system selects the highest VP account that can deliver the upvote value each time. If the full vote cannot be delivered by a single account, the post may be upvoted by several accounts. Only the rshares value actually voted is removed from the member's pending upvote balance.

In cases where 20% of pending vote balance is greater than the 100% maximum deliverable upvote from all ten voting accounts, the unvoted amount remains in pending upvote balance until eventual upvote delivery. This applies to only 3 accounts that have posted within the last seven days.

This shows the total number of upvotes (without respect to size) delivered in the last week. 7381 total upvotes, 2257 accounts upvoted, 10 voting accounts! The biggest boxes belong to members that have a high enough SBI subscription level to get regular upvotes that exceed the minimum threshold.

A more common way to look at voting distribution is by vote weight. This is more meaningful when reviewed by voting account. We publish regular upvote history reports for each voting account, and the regular report for @steembasicincome is published by @sbi-booster.

SCOT tokens


Steem Basic Income received 2190 PAL in the airdrop. We are using the curation and rewards to spread PAL and other SCOT tokens ( #weedcash, #sct, #spt, #steemleo, #mot ) across our full voting account structure, in order to provide SCOT token author rewards as a bonus to SBI members participating in those communities.

We have staked our LEO across the 8 lower voting accounts. We will continue to spread SCOT curation rewards to reach target token stake levels across the full voting account structure. We are open to staking additional SCOT tokens as they begin to gain traction.

Enrollment


To enroll in Steem Basic Income, or to increase the level of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian (excluding yourself), it does not have to be a current member. Multiples of 1 STEEM are also fine (e.g. 5 STEEM with one name means 5 SBI for each of you).

We currently recommend a subscription level of at least 4 SBI to ensure an upvote is received at least once per week. Increasing your subscription level results in more frequent upvotes until you are being upvoted on every post. Then it results in larger upvotes instead.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We accept SBD at our discretion but you do not receive extra value or any partial refund for paying in SBD instead of STEEM. If we choose to accept an SBD enrollment, we accept the entire amount. If we choose to reject it, we refund the entire amount and request you to send STEEM instead. Enrollments are processed automatically every 144 minutes.

So can I keep voting on the accounts that formerly voted me, as I changed pools? I'm curious because in all, I'm taken by this organization. I understand the premise, but I'm astounded something could run so smoothly. As for the inflection point of larger votes and consistent votes, what does an estimate approximate? Understandably, if that is not available information to avoid gaming the system, I support it wholeheartedly. I quite like surprises. In addition, the purchase of STEEM at the present moment is a precious opportunity to stack tokens, yet does this weakened price require more STEEM to achieve the income at given thresholds?

Great question. Stuff I was wondering about (and some beyond my scope of knowledge. Lol) for sure. It seems to run seamlessly and operates as it should, from what I can tell.

Yes it is! Glad to be able to get some so cheaply. Working on getting it currently. Hopefully the price doesn’t spike like crazy on me before I can gather up my money. Volatility can be a good thing, or a very bad thing lol. Double-edged sword for sure 🗡

The estimates we give when people check their status are the estimate for their next post only. Our system adapts automatically to changes in subscription level, posting frequency, and STEEM price, so those estimates are not accurate outside of a very limited time window.

Each SBI unit is effectively backed by the voting capability of ~2 SP (dependent on sustainability metrics). When the value of STEEM falls, it takes a bit more to attain target levels. We deliver a relatively consistent return if measured in STEEM, but it's subject to exchange risks when converted into any other currency.

The upvote minimums are regularly recalculated and based on STU because the reward potocol has a final STU check before payout. We recommend subscribing with at least $10 worth of STEEM (currently about 30) to get daily upvotes and a subscription of at least 40 SBI units unlocks special access in our Discord (including some on-demand boosts from this commenting account).
