Italy Serie A: Fiorentina v Napoli - Bet (24/08/19)
On August 24th, the 2019/20 Serie A season will officially kick start with the reigning champions Juventus making a short trip to Parma, While Fiorentina will be preparing to host Napoli at the Artemio Franchi Stadium. This will only be the first two games of the new season, with the rest of the fixtures scheduled to kick off the following day (August 25th).
The game i'm gonn' be making a preview on is that of Fiorentina v Napoli. This will surely be an intense game between both teams considering how well they have both prepared for the new season. The host, Fiorentina has played in quite a few friendly fixtures before the start of the 2019/20 Serie A season, with 3 matches won, and 2 defeats in 5 matches played.
However, the performance in the pre-season friendly matches of Fiorentina still lacks stability. They lost to weak opponents like Benevento. Apparently, Fiorentina is not really ready for the new season and they need time for the newly signed players to integrate with the team play.
Last season, despite Fiorentina owning a team of great players like Federico Chiesa or Giovanni Simeone, the lack of cohesion made them finish 16th on the league ranking's, with just a stroke of luck helping the team to avoid being relegated to the second division. This season, the purple strip team has looked to strengthen their squad, with the likes of Erick Pulgar, Kevin-Prince Boateng, and Frank Ribery joining the club, after new Coach Vincenzo Montella claimed that he needs more prominent signings for the club to compete more in all major fronts.
Vincenzo Montella's first game will be against rival Napoli. Although, they will be having the advantage of playing in front of their fans at the Artemio Franchi stadium. But it just doesn't seem likely for them to get a positive results in this round due to their poor historical performances against Napoli in all competitive fixtures. In the last 10 matches between the two clubs, Fiorentina only won 1, with 4 matches drawn, and the rest resulting in a defeat.
Definitely, both teams will be coming to this game fully prepared, and its sure going to be a very tough game for both sides, but when you look at teams that should be challenging Juventus for the league title, Napoli tops that list and I am counting on them to make a positive start to the new league season.
