Anyone Else Watch The Australian Open Final?

Wow, what a final that was earlier! Don't know if anyone else is in to tennis but I was in awe watching this one - the shot retrieval from Medvedev was unreal and then Rafa winding back the clock in his time machine, showing us what Champions are made of coming from 2 sets to love down and battling after 5 and a half hours.

This was the first time he'd won the Australian Open since 2009 but saw him reach a record number of 21 grand slam titles.

I've arguably got a more important match next weekend against some local riff-raff in a league that I have to pay to play in and if I hit a shot out the court, I have to go and get it myself.

Think we know who's tennis royalty here though right?

I did post a couple of weeks ago about how I was playing a bit better after reading a book about the mindset around tennis. One of the things it suggested was to watch pro players and how they hit the ball.

Something to do with how our body is able to re-enact what we see and/or visualise it. Monkey see, monkey do I guess?

Next practice night is on Tuesday so I'll go hell for leather and see what happens! If I can get away without hitting a ball into the car park, I'll count that as a victory 😂

Referencing the time machine earlier on, here's a track I made with that title. A highly enjoyable collab with @winkandwoo:

Have a great week

Nicky

I played one year on the tennis team in high school. But that was so many decades ago I would probably need a time machine for my body to be able to play without having to rest every couple points. lol.

Hahaha! I know how you feel. I hadn't played tennis for about 6 years and started playing again at the end of August but it was really tough!

About 2 weeks later, I went full-blooded for a smash, missed the ball then on the follow through, smashed the racquet into my knee cap and was out injured for 5 weeks 😂 It's going well lol!

At this point in my life I'm pretty much just walking/hiking. Having to go to a doctor or heaven forbid a hospital (even if there were any openings) could be a financial disaster for me. 😅

What a time to be alive to witness the three (okay four :))of the greatest players of all time playing this beautiful game. I will cherish the time we watch their games and the professional rivalry they have. I was emotional with Rafa winning the title. After-all, he is one of the greatest.

Yeah man, it really has been a special period for men's tennis with these 4 (I guess you're including Andy Murray in the list)! All with very different styles which made for such a great rivalry and to be so even after all this time with the amount of titles they all won. I don't know if we'll see another period like this for a long time!

I think @erikah is a pretty big tennis fan! I don’t watch it myself but my great grandfather played until he was 80 and golfed until he was 84. I could only hope to have those types of genes when I get older! Lol

I wonder if the thing would’ve been different if the top guy didn’t get kicked out of the country? Hehe

Sounds like your grandpa was a very active lad and got the most out of his years 🙂💪 if I can stay injury free then I'll keep going as long as I can as well lol

It would have been a very frosty tournament that's for sure. Wonder if Novak watched it or if he will have a chance to play in a grand slam ever again
