Esta fotografía corresponde al denominado canal de la derecha del río Llobregat, uno de los ríos más importantes de Cataluña. Se trata de un canal artificial construido en el siglo XIX con el objetivo de mejorar el riego agrícola en la zona final del curso del rio, permitiendo optimizar el desarrollo de cultivos en una región con una fuerte tradición hortícola.

Este canal capta agua del río Llobregat y se extiende a lo largo de varios municipios antes de desembocar en el mar. Su construcción fue impulsada por la necesidad de incrementar los recursos de agua para los cultivos, en un momento en de gran crecimiento demográfico y económico que demandaba una mayor producción de alimentos.

This photograph corresponds to the so-called right channel of the Llobregat river, one of the most important rivers in Catalonia. It is an artificial canal built in the 19th century with the aim of improving agricultural irrigation in the final zone of the course of the river, allowing to optimize the development of crops in a region with a strong horticultural tradition.
