Thoughts on Hive, Splinterlands and crypto My Actifit Report Card: March 5 2025

This week has been very busy. it seems like everything is coming up at once. At work, there are lots of meetings, and deadlines are quickly approaching.

At home, I started something that resulted in lots of activity and is not going to go away any time soon, but it has the real potential to significantly improve our financial situation. It might take a bit of work and financial resources, but it may plug a major hole that is draining our family budget.

Splinterlands community is all buzzing about Splinterlands SPS Validators. I have set up one in Microsoft Azure US West 2 Datacenter located in Washington state.

The Validator software is very easy to set up, but the configuration of the firewall and network security groups in Azure to work with SSL API took a little bit of time to figure out even for someone who works with Azure every day.

Didn't help that Ubuntu on Azure came with a built-in Apache webserver that was using the same port as SPS Validator API.

All that has been resolved and my API has been running for a few days now.

I noticed that SPS Validators require a lot less from the hardware compared to Hive witnesses, particularly on the hard drive side. So they can be run on much smaller servers.

There is an upgrade to the witness software in 1.27.9, which no witnesses are running yet that allows you to run a hive witness with a lot less disk space like 100 gigs instead of the current 700 gig +

I am planning to upgrade my Hive Witness to this new version shortly.

With all of the activity, I still managed to rack up over ten thousand steps yesterday. Today, I have over eleven thousand steps and also did a very good weight lifting workout.

I think it is important to have movement and weight bearing exercises, particularly with my job that requires sitting for eight hours every day.

That is why I really like Actifit and fitness tracking on Hive blockchain.

I am always learning new things about Hive and have been surprised by how much development is happening on Hive. Just one development team that is driving Hive blockchain development is spending about two million dollars each year!

This development is managed from the US, but the development team is all overseas for financial reasons.

New features might come this year to Hive are layer two that will provide smart contract capability.

There is integration with Bitcoin that will serve as an alternative to the Bitcoin Lightning network and other features.

Hive is in active development, and there is a lot to be excited about.

I think this year will be a very big year for Hive, Splinterlands, and crypto!
