How Do We Get Web 2 Gamers into Splinterlands? My Actifit Report Card: February 16 2025
Today was a great day. Our son came over, and we did a weight lifting workout. While working out, he was telling me about the game he is playing in web 2.
He spends quite a bit of money in the game and would probably make him one of the top Splinterlands players if he was spending that in Splinterlands.
He actually played Splinterlands for over a year but lost interest. If he spent as much as he did in Whiteout Survival, he would own every single modern card in the game.
I guess the social aspect of the Whiteout Survival game is stronger than what we have in Splinterlands.
They have really interesting marketing. For Valentines Day, they had a whole week of special event where they competed for special skins that gave them a special look and enhanced the power in some way.
It is a leader board where they purchase something and give roses for who they like. It amazingly works, and people spend a lot of money on this...
There is no monetary reward in that game, yet somehow they have thousands of people playing it and spending a lot of money in it. How do we get those people into Splinterlands?
I gave up on trying to bring him back, but I am at least trying to convince him to take some of the money he spends in that game and invest in some altcoins. We agreed to sit down next Friday and open coinbase for him.
At least if he were to invest money in altcoins, he would have a chance to make some money in the future. And not just blow away money on a web 2 game every day.
I have not made it to ten thousand steps, but it all adds up, even seven thousand is good and today thanks to a workout and going to a grocery store I made it to ten thousand steps.

I think this is an interesting topic, mostly people discover games through availability and friends.
If a game is easy to access and get started in, also if friends also play it this gets people into the game.
Some people love to follow and play trendy games also as well as walk away once they get board and do it all again with another game.
Set him up an hive account, easily done in your wallet in Peakd for example, then get him to sign up to splinterlands as well as download the app and buy him the starter pack.
Explain how it works? and play along then you may have a chance to convince him.
Gaming is an addictive trait.
Show him your own results on Splinterlands if you have them.

That is the thing, he has a Hive account and played competitively in Splinterlands, but got bored and no longer interested.
I think that the social aspect is a lot stronger in Whiteout Survival. They have competition between guilds and guilds comprise states and states compete with each other, there is a lot of communication between states, guilds and players.
We need more development in communication and guilds in Splinterlands to make the game more sticky. @topcomment

Maybe that is a good thing :) It is a Web 2 game so you don't earn anything, but it seems to be very addictive...
