My Actifit Report Card: December 24 2024: It was nothing but tears

Have you ever attended a double burial before? What I mean by double is this: two corps from same family undergoing burial same day and time. Ahh, from the thumbnail image, you can see clearly what I mean. Well, let me explain in details.

Few months ago, my friend Ugboaku told me about the demise of her father. Later, when the burial was about fixing, the wife joined the scenerio and with that, they postponed the burial so as to do both together same time.

On the first of December 2024, she called me to inform me of the parents burial and I saved the date. Yesterday, I went as early as to their house which is a village far way from my present destination. It's about 15 miles away. Reaching there, I helped with chores and by 11:20am, their corps arrived. The burial talk was expected to start by 12noon but couldn't commence because heavy breeze scattered all the canopies already fixed and mounted to the extent about 4 canopies broke beyond immediate repair or amendment.

Therefore, as a result from the breeze, the canopy man started mounting the canopies afresh but because of how fast he was, the canopies were ready and the burial talk began by 12:30pm.

Points from the burial talk

The speaker Mr Henshell addressed the need for us not to fear death because death is merely the opposite of life. Meaning that it's only when someone is alive that we should fear him or her. Also, he mentioned from the scriptures how death began as a result of disobedience and why there is need for us to amend our ways now because as surely as this old system is still in existence, we can't predict how, why and where our life journey will quench.

More to that, he openly read John:5:28,29 which stated the realistic hope of the dead. Also, he read Revelation 21:3,4 which shows the future hope of both the dead and all those who have good relationship with God.

At the end, the talk ended with song and prayer and the two coffin were carried into ambulance straight to their house for interment.

.Yea, knowing that the burial will be overly crowded, they kept the venue in a primary school field close to their house.

Immediately, I rose up to drop my condolences with my friend and also helped with chores. Later, I came back home around 5:00pm feeling so exhausted.

My people, that is how my day went with tears all over my eyes because I could remember years ago when I went there for holiday and the late man and his late wife greatly welcomed me as if am also their own daughter. Chai, death is wicked. Nevertheless, the man is 82 years old while the wife is 72 years old.
