I did it! The whole trail, 2.5 miles. It was slow-going, but I did it. That wouldn’t have been an achievement for me prior to the last month. Now, however, post-Covid, it was a great success.

Wildflowers are blooming all over. Tiny ones, like pink and white carpet, beautiful wild irises, firecracker flowers, spring color everywhere.

The sun coming down through the new leaves dappled the forest floor with it’s light.

Being in the forest brings me hope, and determination. My body will return to normal, dammit. I will make it happen. My lungs will clear, and my heart will learn again to keep up with my will.

It will take time. This trail used to take me less than an hour when I was going strong. Today it took over two hours.

I’m still showing positive on my Covid tests, three weeks post-infection. So I am still being careful, masking and sanitizing.

Despite our efforts to control it, with vaccines, isolation, masks, and more Lysol than I could have dreamt of using, @nomaddreamer and our youngest kiddo tested positive after our hike.

I am now the sole caretaker of our home and family. All four of us are isolating from each other as much as possible to attempt to prevent any possible reinfection.

Our youngest has an auto-immune disorder, so I’ll have to venture out (masked, of course) to the pharmacy today to get his antiviral in hopes of preventing a severe infection.

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to escape to the forest again soon. It provides the peace that I need to get through this fight.

Thank you! Yes, it is spring here in the US, and in our area of the Ozark mountains we're getting lots of spring storms to bring lots of spring blooms.
