Testing Out a “High Tech Mop” (?) While Mom Hospitalised

avatar

The only time you can really do some proper house chores, especially mopping the floor is when the house is literally empty.

I think I got this trait from my mom. I never liked anyone to be around when I am mopping the floor. I think all the homeowners / homemakers feel the same. We just wanted the house to stay clean at least an hour before the chaos returns.

For my case, it would be occasional dropped food from the “big kids”.

Never underestimate how sloppy you can become when you are “ripe & golden”.

Back to childhood ... the Chinese love to say...

With the addition of the returning of air pollution once the city re-awakes and back in action post covid. No amount of trees could absorb all the dust when the streets are buzzling again.

Usually I would prefer to get dirty and knell with my table cloth and hot water; but as age catches up and I got busier, keeping a consistent clean floor without mopping it when everyone’s asleep is a daunting challenge.

I spotted this Time and Water Saving contrapment in Shopee (in US is Wish.com) some time back and was wondering is it worth the try.

Good thing was that my lady boss actually bought one of these for her house helper, but she refused to use it insisting that it is “too complicated” and preferred her good old fashion wash-and-hand-squeeze-mop so she brought over to the office, hoping the office cleaners would give it a go. Unfortunately, both cleaners at my office refused to use it as well; and this became an open door as she knew needed to mop my whole apartment prior to my mom’s discharge.

Of course, I took the opportunity to TEST IT OUT!

How could I refuse to try before purchase (in the future)??

To make this more visible I deliberately placed a little more floor detergent to the warm-to-hot water in the inner pail to speed up the drying process. Unfortunately I placed a little too much and I ended up needing to mop the whole place 3 times!

This is the 3rd round!

However due to my lack of time recently the place has truly indeed become so dusty that the water is dark grey in colour. I think it will turn ink black if I leave the floor as it is for another month!

It has indeed showed its true strength by TRULY separating the dirt water and the clean water apart, and with the side opening I could drain the dirty water without losing the clean water at the center.

There is however one disadvantage: In order to keep the mop relatively clean most of the time (and I do not need to soak it later), I will need to “rinse” it by pressing the mop head on the roller for 30x every 5x5 sq feet. This is truly really good for arm exercise!

The micro fibre flat mop does “suck” unto the floor and if you don’t have much strength it could also be a challenge; but it sure will make you sweat.

Enough calories burnt going up and down mopping the floor in the end? Not enough actually, but at least my feet approves.

Moreover I still have my hula-hoop with its 500g to make my body sweat enough for the day.

Not to mention this was the first time I hit 1000 spins below 10 minutes!

Will I be able to keep this up? Time will tell...

I enjoy cleaning and doing house chores when I’m alone too. It’s just difficult to do with people around and you’ll have to struggle to get one thing done right.

That mop looks amazing!

I know right? When there are people around the moment you clean one side the other side is back to square one dirty (or almost)

Oh! this is such an interesting mop! Good thing that God opened doors of opportunity for you to give this a try and decide whether you should have one permanently later.
My floor is really dirty too, but not enough time to even mop it.

Thanks so much @iamraincrystal . Yeah, if 2 decades ago, you won't see these interesting inventions.

I think I'd probably still prefer a regular mop, but it seems interesting. I hope that it works out well! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Wow, very impressive!
Good thing we have a iRobot at home (at a slashed down promotional price) that does the work automatically for us, otherwise we would not have much time too, being out of the house most of the time.
Wishing your mom speedy recovery!

Ah, OK, so it's kind of flimsy then. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

It isn't flimsy (the mop itself) but the roller of the pail may wear out fast
