My Actifit Report Card: July 10 2024 - Atheist Debates God Believer! Must See
This is a post about AI if you can believe it. Based on the title you would Not expect that!
YouTube recommended me another video from the same Jon Oleksiuk YouTube channel the other day and it was very interesting. Then I found this one and it's even cooler. Jon set up some AI agents and had them debate the topic of... Is there a God?
Each side made what you would expect if you're familiar with reasons people give to believe one God exists, or not. If you're not familiar with these reasons then you can learn a lot from the video and then use it as a starting point to Do Your Own Research!
My Activity
today wasn't as much as I'd like but again it was super hot out, with the heat index as high as 106. It was a kind of day where you stay inside if you can.
For me, I had to go out and do some errands. I waited until near twilight when it was slightly cooler.
Then I did take my daily nightly walk but I went later than usual and walked less than usual and slower than usual. Still I managed over 6K so yay for me :D
Have a nice day! :)

Well... I said it many times, these are not real AIs, just high level softwares, working based on huge databases, what are limited to that database, what humans create and able to modify anytime. Pretty much analyzing softwares, nothing else.
I didnt watch through the hole thing, but I am sure things like evolution and gravity theory (also plenty other stuff what describes, limits our world, beliefs) are not even touched, as these things recorded in those databases like laws, when in meantime, none of those were 100% proven, they just renamed the "theory" for "law", because they couldn't come up with better explanation. Especially, seeing it from the "take control" point of view.
I just heard 2 more sofisticated human idiots arguing about something, what they don't know...
The definition of AI has changed a lot over the last 60+ years. It used to be if a program could play Checkers then it was AI. Then if it could follow a large number of rules given to it by experts in a field and answer some questions then it was AI. Then if it could use a network of software subroutines that worked like an idealized neuron and accept input and deliver output in natural language then it was AI. I'm interested to see what AI will be in the future.
Hmm
That topic is weighty and a lot of people are surely going to have something to say about it
As for me, there is a God and he’s real
A weighty topic indeed. Something that has been discussed for thousands of years. Lots of people do have something to say, and sometimes people say things that are opposite from each other, which might mean that one is right and one is wrong, or both are wrong. I'm interested in hearing what people have to say on this subject and I am willing to listen to all points of view. I learn a lot this way.
When it comes to the topic does God exist, it has really been a debate that has actually exist for so long and will continue to. I am so sure that a whole lot of people will say no that God does not exist but I don't really believe it
Yes, this has been debated for a long long time. It seems that no one has come up with something that everyone else can agree with, so the debate goes on. People believe different things on lots of topics and we should respect each other's beliefs whether we agree or not.
Interesting idea man. Debating God with AI. Makes me wonder if AI can ever truly understand faith.
People have wondered if AI can ever truly understand anything for over 40 years. There is the concept of the Chinese Room Argument which states that even if some AI can discuss something like a human, can they be said to understand what they are saying or are they just manipulating language symbols.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_room
This is so true, I think it's a bit of both. They are indeed just following their program instructions so I guess we can't say they understand yet again we ourselves are called intelligent and we seem to operate a bit similarly 🤔 or am I wrong on that... I can't tell it's pretty hard to decide
I believe we do operate similarly. Here is some backup for that.
The naturalistic explanation of human thinking is that we're deterministic machines just like computers with nothing spooky or supernatural going on. We think we understand things we're talking about because we have different parts of our brain which are both producing what we say as well as listening to what we say. As Minsky says in his Society of Minds theory and book, "minds are what brains do".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Society_of_Mind
And now, there's further discussion of brains/minds being deterministic, i.e. no free will, due to neuroscientist Sapolsky's new book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Determined:_A_Science_of_Life_Without_Free_Will

There are many YouTube videos of Sapolsky being interviewed about Free Will and the implications of humans not actually having it.
Another fun fact about Sapolsky is that he has an entire semester of human behavioral biology classes he gave at prestigious Stanford University some years ago, available for everyone for free on YouTube. This would have cost a ton of money to be in the class, but now we can all educate ourselves for no charge.

Wow brother thank you Sou for the links, I really always knew there was a chance we really don't have free will as people think. The architecture of computers are pretty similar to humans, the difference is that computers almost have no limitations in accessing for processing potential
ahhhhh, u are such a walker.. :)
whoever said GOD was a loving GOD?? :P
what if GOD likes pain and suffering?
Some people have said He's a God of Love but also a God of Justice and then they try to talk about how that works. I'm just here as an AI watcher :)
:) yea.. i think GOD/the creator/the universe.. is above silly human emotions like that probably.. but monty python's holy grail was a masterpiece!! :D
Holy Grail is comedy gold! Life of Brian is quite related to the subject of this post as well.

oh yea.. that one was good too, but u just can't beat..
