Snowy Trail Walk: February 15 2025

I took a long walk in my favorite trail. The sun was low in the sky when I started, and it was nearly dark by the time I returned to my car. My pictures show the progression of dusk.

It was very cold (23 degrees) but really beautiful out.

There were a few others out walking and biking in the trail, but not many.

I took this selfie to show how bundled up I was for the weather. Later I laughed because the place where my scarf was double wrapped formed what looks like a huge mouth!

I arrived at the lake, which is often the turn-round point. But it was so beautiful out there on the ice with our fresh new snow that I just had to go out there onto the lake.

This first picture is of a dock that has appeared in many of my posts over the years, sometimes looking out over boats on the water on summer evenings, sometimes over a frozen landscape and fishing houses.

The lake becomes a little city in winter, with many people driving out in their trucks to set up fishing huts and trailers. There are even well-traveled roads across the lake.

I love the lake at sunset anytime of year.

And it’s so interesting to see boats in snow!

It was getting dark and it was time to head back.

There are some houses right along the trail. They look so pretty lit up with Christmas lights. Here in Minnesota, we hang onto our cheerful holiday lights until spring!
