heads up for tokyo skytree : January 5 2025

(Edited)

for the last day of the work holidays, this nightwalker decided to check tokyo skytree. i heard that they have some christmas markets and stuff, so here we go.

tokyo skytree

i am pretty sure i have written something about this tower but it seems that i have not pinned this specific location in the map. so allow me to quote what i previously wrote about this tower.

now let me talk a bit about this tower, standing at 634 m made of steel since 2012, tokyo skytree is the tallest tower in the world.
you might say that this is one hell of a white elephant (giraffe would probably be fitting, too) but this tower is actually the primary tv and radio broadcast site for the whole of tokyo and the surrounding prefectures.
allow me to give fun facts after fun facts, the height of 634 was not a random number.
when read in old japanese, 634 is "mu-sa-shi" which reminds people of the old musashi region where the tower currently stands.
you can read all of these and many more in their website.

framed and famed tokyo skytree

tokyo skytree as seen from kototoi bridge (sumida-ku, tokyo). i am also submitting this picture above to @photofeed's cityscapes photocontest.

it really is a majestic view no matter how many times you look at it. and to think that this tower is visible from my home, it still never fails to amaze me. i would have wanted to take this picture from the center, but then this is a road. japanese drivers will most likely not hit me, but i will be such a nuisance.

the main goal for today is to go to the tower base itself, so here i am approaching the tower. the more i get close, the more it gets bigger. my neck already hurts from all of this "looking up". she is really tall! megastructures make you feel very small.

finally here at the foot of the tower. she is actually sitting, or standing rather, on top of a mall. here is one of it's entrances. still well lit from the "illuminations" they are having.

at one level of the mall, there is a portion where it goes outside and you can view the tower above you. they usually have the christmas market in this floor, but i guess i was too late as stalls were now closing. this space is also filled with lights shaped in the mascot of *tokyo skytree, sorakara-chan is that one in the middle. i'm not sure who the other two are. this floor also features an ice rink, this time i'm pretty sure it is true ice. skating in here beside the towering tower must be a very exhilarating feeling. although i would not be able to focus on the tower if it were me on the ice, i would focus on not falling flat.

view of the tower from this floor. i could no longer see the details of the top from this vantage.

i went inside the mall for a bit, the strawberry cakes were very tempting. other shops are also in this mall. a pokemon shop is also here (gotta catch them all, indeed). at one side of the mall is an aquarium for the sea creature lovers.

i finally headed outside after the mall announced that it will be closing soon. here is my parting shot of the tower. and i am not the only one amazed by this tower as what i could see, there were three families outside taking turns in taking pictures. it really is an attraction. and before i forget, for a cost, it is possible to go up the tower until the observation deck. that must also be a different view from up there, you will now be looking down at us earthlings.

i went home with a happy heart and very cold hands and face. winter is wintering these days.

as always, AMPING KANUNAY!
STAY SAFE!

Wow! Such tall and impressive tower! I bet the UFOs would notice this and they might come to inspect this at night!

The sky tree looks really impressive, my friend!👍🤗
How high up can you go, is there an elevator to the top, or stairs? 😅

that first wider area from the bottom is the observation deck. you can go there via elevators. not sure if is possible for visitors to go further up. and to be honest, i have never been up there. all my friends won't go with me.

I imagine it would be a tremendous view!🤗
I wonder what they had to do to build this in the earthquake territory of Japan !🙄
