the detour : August 27 2024

i planned to have a short walk tonight, this nightwalker was having lots of thoughts in his head which he needs to think through.
the plan was to go to a shop, buy nuts and go home.
this shop was the don quijote, a department / grocery store, near uguisudani, the love hotel district.

as i walked out, i tried searching for a cheaper shop where i could buy some chocolates.
i knew i saw one in tiktok, i just had to recall what search keys to use.
the shop was just nearby, i knew it was closed at this hour but i just wanted to check how long to get there and how the shop looked like.

i eventually set foot on the travel; although it was close, i strolled by a new area.
exploring a new area is always fun.
went under the train tracks, passed by lots of houses, parks, schools until i finally reached the area.
it was a big warehouse, of course it was not open at this hour, but i finally knew how to go.

at this point, i decided to find other places where i could buy stuff: tried searching "wholesale" in google maps.
i got excited when it showed a few more locations nearby, i decided to check the place.
to my disappointment, it was not a store but an office which probably does "wholesale" transactions.
my bad for searching too vaguely.

since i have quite veered off from uguisudani, i decided to just continue walking and get the nuts on my way home.

i was now in ueno and saw this bird cage looking dome; it probably looks best when the vines have fully covered the top.
the big ueno station was already in sight across the street.
but for no reason at all, my two feet brought me inside a hobby store.
i was in no hurry at all, i wasn't even offended at how my feet decided on their own.
i was even ok at how they carried me to the upper floors of the shop to where my interests were.

this was the biggest collection of jigsaw puzzles i saw in japan, i know i am in no shape to buy even one.
but i browsed at it nonetheless, if a jaw-droppingly good box was there, i am in no position to decline.
there were a few good ones but not jaw dropping, my wallet is marked safe.
i also saw their display of genshin impact goods; something i am happy to just look at.

i proceeded with my nightwalker duties and entered the park on my way home.
it was surprisingly bright, and the clouds were very pronounced even at night.
there were also some blue or violet lights on the clouds, i stayed for a bit hoping it would clear up and an alien mothership would reveal itself.
there was none of those, but i still don't know what caused those colored lights.

i finally reached the original target shop, and bought 6 packs of nuts.
it was such a long detour, a 9 km detour which took 2 and half hours.

my mind got so blank on the way home; it was as if i was on auto pilot.
don't worry though for everything and everyone was safe.
no animals where harmed in this nightwalker journey.
