A busy day with a full schedule / 忙しい日！ - My Actifit Report Card: March 26 2025

Yesterday was a very busy day.

I’m not good with tight schedules, so I usually don’t willingly pack multiple plans into a single day. However, yesterday, various family plans overlapped, resulting in a fully packed schedule😅

First, my younger son had his last field trip at daycare. It was just a simple event—playing at a nearby park and having lunch—but I had to prepare a bento for him. So, I woke up a little earlier than usual to make his lunch and took him to daycare.

On top of that, yesterday was also my elder son’s elementary school graduation ceremony. As soon as I returned from daycare drop-off, I quickly got ready and headed to the elementary school. It was a beautiful, warm day—so warm that I didn’t even need a jacket.

All the sixth-grade teachers had tear-streaked eyes. Some parents were discreetly wiping away their tears during the ceremony. I’m the type who doesn’t cry at events like these, but as I sat there, I felt grateful that my elder son (probably) had a good six years. It was a nice graduation ceremony.

Additionally, my elder son was scheduled to leave for a trip to Kyoto with his grandmother (my mother) starting today. So, after the graduation ceremony, he had to take the Shinkansen to my parents’ house before heading to Kyoto. He was going to stay at their house for one night before traveling, but since getting from our nearest station to Tokyo Station requires transfers, and Tokyo Station itself is vast and complicated, I needed to take him all the way to the Shinkansen platform.

By the way, my elder son’s spring break is jam-packed. After the Kyoto trip, he’ll attend a dinner party celebrating my father’s 77th birthday at my parents’ house. Then, the day after returning to Tokyo, he has a lunch gathering with his classmates at a family restaurant. After that, he’ll go on an overnight camping trip with a friend and his friend’s father. His schedule is so full that there was no room to fit in the spring cram school classes recommended by his prep school. But unlike me, he enjoys having a packed schedule, so he seems satisfied with his plans.

All the photos are from Tokyo Station. I lined up at the ticket machine to buy a platform admission ticket, but it wasn’t as crowded as I had expected. Maybe because it was a weekday? Or perhaps online ticket purchases have become much more common? That night, I had a shift at my part-time job, so as soon as I saw the Shinkansen depart with my elder son on board, I headed straight home. It was a hectic day, and I’m not great with days like these… but I managed somehow. By the time I got home from my shift and lay down, I was completely exhausted.

My elder son and my mother are now on their two-night, three-day trip to Kyoto. This trip was actually my mother’s idea as a graduation gift for him.
However, late at night, I got a message from him saying, "It’s awkward because I have nothing to talk about with Grandma." 😅 That makes sense—we didn’t visit my parents' house last year because of his entrance exams, so the two of them haven’t seen each other in over a year. Jumping straight into a two-night trip together might be a bit tough. Not to mention, he’s at that tricky age of 12. Come to think of it… do those two even get along?

I hope they can have a good time tomorrow. Sending my concerns from Tokyo.

昨日はとても忙しい日でした。

私はギュウギュウに詰まったスケジュールが苦手なので、自分で一日にいくつもの予定を入れることはしません。しかし、昨日は家族の様々な予定が重なった結果、スケジュールがギュウギュウの一日となってしまいました😅

まず、次男の保育園で最後の遠足がありました。といっても、近くの公園で遊んでお昼を食べるだけなのですが、そのためにお弁当を持たせる必要がありました。なのでいつもより少しだけ早く起きてお弁当を作り、次男を保育園に送り届けました。

そして、昨日は長男の小学校の卒業式でもありました。保育園の送りから戻るとすぐに、支度を整えて小学校へ。よく晴れて、上着は要らないくらい暖かい日でありがたかったです。

6年生の先生たちは皆、泣きはらした目をしていました。式の間、涙を拭う保護者の姿もちらほら。私はこういった場所では泣けない性質ですが、長男にとって（おそらく）良い6年間だったことを感謝しながらその場に座っていました。良い式でした。

長男は今日からばあば（私の母）と京都へ旅行に行くことになっていました。そのため卒業式の後は、長男は新幹線で私の実家まで移動です…　といっても、自宅の最寄り駅から東京駅までは乗り換えもあるし、東京駅も広く複雑なので、新幹線のホームまで彼を送り届けなければなりませんでした。

ちなみに長男の春休みのスケジュールはギュウギュウです。京都旅行のあとはそのまま私の実家で父の喜寿祝いの食事会、その後東京に戻ってきた翌日にはクラスメイトたちとファミレスでランチ、さらにその後は友達とそのお父さんと1泊のキャンプが待っています。あまりにスケジュールが詰まりすぎていて、塾から勧められた春期講習を入れる余地はありませんでした。でも彼は私と逆で、スケジュールが詰まっているのが好きなタイプらしく、春休みの予定には満足だそうです。

写真はすべて東京駅のもの。私はホームへの入場券を買うために発券機に並びましたが、思っていたほどには混雑していませんでした。平日だったからでしょうか、それともオンラインでの購入がかなり普及してきているということなのでしょうか。

その夜はパートのシフトが入っていたので、長男の乗った新幹線が出発するのを見届けてすぐ帰宅しました。かなりバタバタで、こういう日はちょっと苦手ですが・・・何とか頑張ったかなという感じです。パートから帰って横になるころにはヘトヘトでした。

長男と母は今日から2泊3日の京都旅行ですが、実は夜になって長男から「ばあばと話すことがなくて気まずい」というLINEが😅確かに、昨年は受験のため帰省せず、2人が会うのは1年以上ぶり。それでいきなり2泊3日の旅行はなかなかしんどいのではという気もします。まして、長男は12歳という微妙な年頃だし。そもそも、あの2人って気が合ったっけ・・・？この旅行自体は母の提案で、長男の卒業祝いなんですけどね。

明日は楽しく過ごせるといいのですが。東京から少し心配しています。
