My Actifit Report Card: August 28 2020

Hey everybody! This was my day 😎

Work did indeed turn out to be very busy. I sort of met myself coming and going in the hallway between my office space and the front floor! Craziness!!

After work, I headed to the post office to pick up mail and drop some off. Afterwards, I almost just wanted to sit and not move for 30 minutes or so, but I needed to get home and I had parked in direct line of the intense afternoon sun.

At home, I enjoyed a coffee with @silvertop and then we headed out for a hike.

We got to the bench at the top of Bear Hollow to find the box for the forest journal had been put back. I opened the box to take out the journal only to discover the book was missing! I guess Keith and Lynne thought it was in there.

@actifit lamb was so excited ( I’ll let her tell you why in her post she’s writing this weekend) and she was very happy to pose for her photo on the bench.

Behind the bench is an old growth stump riddled with woodpecker holes. It’s an interesting photo subject.

To the right of that is an interestingly curvy tree trunk.

We came home and I sat down to work on the computer after a shower. I felt a tickling on my chest only to discover a large spider running around!!!😳🙀. I absolutely abhor them and came out of my chair faster than you can believe! When I got it out I squashed it! I’ve always had an aversion to them since I was a little girl and I can react fairly violently!

It took a while for my blood pressure to go down, let me tell you!

Dinner was a salad which was delicious. I am a bit brain drained at this point so that’s about it for today.

Oh gosh, having a spider crawling on you is so awful. I don’t mind them terribly unless the get on me, and then I leap into action like you did. Eek!

Sounds like a great day. So the journal really is or really isn’t missing? Who would take it?

Thanks @jayna! Years ago, I tried escaping a spider out of a moving vehicle at 35MPH! My friend's mom grabbed me as I was exiting. I just needed out of there!

As for the journal, Keith and Lynne had removed the box to refinish the wood. It's a special sentimental wood, and the finish was not standing up to the humidity and sun very well. The box is back with pens, but I'm thinking they didn't realize they forgot the journal. Pretty much no one but me and @silvertop hike the trails regularly, and we don't have it, so that's where I think it might be. I'll check tomorrow when we hike to see if it's been 'found'. Oh my gosh, being accosted by a bee or spider when you're in a car is the worst. That has happened to me while I was driving and it nearly led to me crashing the car! Glad you didn't jump out of the vehicle!

And I hope the journal is safe and sound.

It astounds me how much walking you get in. Or it astounds me how little walking I do? You are ALWAYS up at least 15k! For me this week the low was 1,200 with a high of 4,600. Probably explains the #covid19 I am gaining. 😆😂🤣

I've copied and pasted part of a comment to another actifitter on a conversation similar to this. I had a serious wake up call at the end of July; here's the comment:

"Back at the end of July, I took my blood pressure only to discover somehow I had slipped back into the 'you better do something about it or you are going to stroke range'. You may think I'm kidding, but I'm not. A few years ago when I was diagnosed with it, that's what the nurse told me then, and what I read last month was even higher. The hiking originally, with diet change, did the trick and I was able to ditch the meds and stay in the normal range. But with the covid crisis, and everything not being normal any more, I guess I started eating too much comfort foods. Ironically, my weight didn't change much; I've always fluctuated 5-ish pounds in either direction, but it was shifting on my body and I was extremely unhappy and felt horrible physically. The blood pressure was a wake up call! I 97% gave up the flour (bread mostly) again and the cheese (Tillamook, how I love it!) and began researching natural stuff to help. So to end this book I'm writing, it is back in the normal range; I've lost a little weight, and feel much better."

There are days @dfinney, when I don't make it past 10,000, but they are few. I have this love/hate thing with exercise, and sometimes when we head out for a hike, I'm like this little girl on the inside throwing a temper tantrum because I really don't want to do this, lol! But I do, and by the time I'm halfway done, the tantrum is gone (unless the mosquitos are out!) and I feel tons better.

Hello again, sis @elizabethbit! It looks like an exhilarating day for you once again, and a shower after sounds perfect. But Eeeeekkkkkk 😱.... a spider!!! I love viewing all the tree photos, and I find the old stump of a tree so interesting. I wonder what causes those large holes on the trunk?

The holes are caused by and industrious woodpecker looking for a meal! You should see the holes they make throughout the forest! You'd think it would give them a headache, but they keep bashing their little beaks into the wood anyway! Take care my sis and have a lovely day tomorrow!💕🌸
