Everything Getting More Expensive in Canada! My Actifit Report Card: April 14 2025
I took a stop by the local Costco here in Canada! One thing I keep my eye on is the price of a tin of coffee. Finally noticed a large jump.
1.36kg last week was $26.49 Canadian dollarinas as shown in the photo here below.
And this week it jumped to $29.99 for the same 1.36kg of Kirkland Costco Coffee.
Granted we live in a northern country and the amount coffee bean production growing here is zero. Our dollar keeps on getting inflated to oblivion.
Price increases on everything, continue to take effect.
Understand and believe the coffee futures market is being up, check out this 5-year chart below.
We'll see what the coming weeks bring for inflation.
Enjoy your weak folks!

Inflation, with rising prices and the depreciation of the national currency, is a worrying problem.
On the other hand, I was a little surprised by the coffee market chart. Not because of the increase in its value, but for something simpler. I had no idea that (just like a company's stock), An agricultural product was treated like this.
That made me think about how much I still have to learn about markets and their operations.

I was curious so I looked up how much this was at Costco in the U.S. Looks like it is a bit more expensive here at $23.99 USD which is the equivalent of a little over $33 Canadian (using $1.39 Canadian = $1 USD). Sales taxes are probably lower where I live though (7%).
It is daily really looking so unbearable and which should not be so. The government should do something about it

Everything’s been creeping up here too, there are relatively recent conversations about how we were paying a lot more for the same amount or less groceries 🙄
