10800 Schritte ++Revolution in der Dominikanischen Republik

Hallo Freunde,

als ich gestern Mittag unterwegs zum Hauptstrand in Sosua war, sah ich ein riesiges Aufgebot an Polizei. Die Leute vom Swat-team waren die ersten und natürlich habe ich sie gefragt, ob ich sie fotografieren darf.
Ich hatte die Frage bereits zweimal in meinem Leben vergessen, einmal in Prag bei der Räumung einer Schwarzbierkneipe und ein weiteres Mal bei einer Razzia auf dem Ramblas in Barcelona. Beide Male waren sehr einprägsame Erfahrungen für mich. Seitdem frage ich sogar den bei der Kommune angestellten Friedhofsgärtner, ob ich ein Foto machen darf.
Die hiesigen Polizisten allerdings waren tiefenentspannt.

Später stellte ich fest, dass wirklich alle Einheiten der Polizei am Strand Präsenz zeigen. Nicht nur das SWAT-Team, sondern auch die Einheit zur Bekämpfung von häuslicher Gewalt, die Drogenfahndung, die Touristenpolizei und natürlich die Verkehrspolizei und die normale Polizei.

Worum ging es am Hauptstrand von Sosua?

Ein paar der Angestellten und Betreiber der Bars und Verkaufsbuden hatten eine Demonstration angekündigt
Die Regierung des Landes und der Bürgermeister haben beschlossen, all diese illegalen, rund 200 Geschäfte abzureißen und dafür ein familientaugliches Strandparadies mit Hotels und Restaurants zu bauen.
Also die Armen raus und Reiche dafür rein.
Und natürlich gefällt das den jetzigen Betreibern nicht.
Also, wenn ihr diesen Strand sehen wollt wie er jetzt ist, mit all dem Hippie zeug, der karibischen Romantik und nervigen Musik und die hunderten von Prostituierten, dann solltet ihr noch in diesem Jahr hier Urlauben.

when I was on my way to the main beach in Sosua yesterday at noon, I saw a huge contingent of police. The people from the Swat-team were the first and of course I asked them if I could take their picture.
I had already forgotten the question twice in my life, once in Prague during the eviction of a black beer pub and another time during a raid on the Ramblas in Barcelona. Both times were very memorable experiences for me. Since then, I even ask the cemetery gardener employed by the municipality if I can take a picture.
The local policemen, however, were deeply relaxed.

Later I found out that really all units of the police are present on the beach. Not only the SWAT team, but also the domestic violence unit, the drug squad, the tourist police and of course the traffic police and the regular police.

What was it all about on the main beach of Sosua?

A few of the employees and operators of the bars and stalls had announced a demonstration
The government of the country and the mayor have decided to demolish all these illegal, about 200 stores and build a family-friendly beach paradise with hotels and restaurants instead.
So the poor out and rich for it in.
And of course the current operators don't like that.
So, if you want to see this beach as it is now, with all the hippie stuff, the Caribbean romance and annoying music and the hundreds of prostitutes, then you should vacation here this year.
