Weather, reflections and coffee with bread
Greetings to the Hive Community and especially to the @actifit Community. It's a pleasure to be here bringing you my daily report.
Today marked the start of our third academic evaluation period, which we used to call the third period. We're almost at the end of the academic year. There are still three months left, but at the pace we're going, if these three months are over this weekend, time flies.
My day started normally. I did my chores around the house, helped my son with his homework, and prepared breakfast and lunch. Once the morning routine was over, we didn't board the plane. He went to school and I went to work.
The difference today was that after noon, it started to drizzle, and around three in the afternoon, drops of rain began to fall more frequently, and by five in the afternoon, it was raining moderately. It was a cold and very calm day, blessed with much-needed rain to cool us down from the high temperatures and, above all, for the vegetation, which received such a beautiful blessing from heaven.
As for academic work, everything went very well. The students behaved wonderfully. There were two things that surprised me:
1- A very good academic student with excellent behavior who had missed class last week due to recurring fainting spells told us that her discomfort was only due to a positive pregnancy test.
2- A third-year student told me she wouldn't be able to come to class on Wednesday because she and her parents had a summons to juvenile court for being charged with assault.
I took a deep breath and continued teaching my class. My thoughts immersed me in the need to implement strategies other than simply academic ones and focus more on lifelong learning. I definitely need to read a book a colleague recommended to me some time ago, Learning for Life by Lourdes Jiménez. From my point of view, it's vital to focus education in other directions.
I was immersed in these thoughts while I waited for the rain to stop. It was in vain, as I had to come back with the rain on my back because it was getting late.
Before arriving home, I stopped by the bakery and bought my usual bread to take to my children. The rain, and no climatic catastrophe, would prevent me from enjoying my coffee and bread for the time being.

Había un día frio y muy tranquilo, bendita lluvia tan necesaria para refrescarnos de tanta temperetura alta y sobre todo para la vegetación que recibió tan hermosa bendición del cielo.
En cuanto a las labores académicas todo fue muy bien, los chicos se comportaron de maravilla, hubo dos cosas que me sorprendieron:
1- Una estudiante muy buena académicamente y de excelente comportamiento que había faltado a clases la última semana por presentar desmayos recurrentesque nos dio la noticia de que su malestar solo se debía a una prueba de embarazo positiva.
2- Una estudiante de tercer año me dijo que no podría venir el miércoles a clases porque tenía una citación junto con sus padres al tribunal de menores por estar imputada en un delito de agresión.
Respiré profundo y continué impartiendo mi clases, mis pensamientos me sumergieron en en la necesidad de implementar otras estrategías que no sean simplemente académicas y enforcarnos más en un aprendizaje para la vida. Definitivamente tengo que leerme un libro que una colega me recomendó hace tiempo Aprendizaje para la Vida de Lourdes Jiménez. Es vital desde mi punto de vista enfocar la educación hacia otros rumbos.
En estos pensamientos estaba sumida mientras esperaba que escampara, fue en vano esperar; ya que tuve que venirme con la lluvia a cuesta porque se estaba haciendo tarde.
Antes de llegar a mi casa pasé por la panadería y compré mi habitual pan para llevarle a mis hijos. La lluvía, ni ninguna catastrofe climática impedirá por los momentos mi café con pan.
Espero les haya gustado este recorrido habitual hacia mi lugar de trabajo y estos pensamientos de docente sumamente preocupada por la educación que estamos impartiendo.
