Blackbutt Creek walk for autumn orchids : February 28 2025

Heading into another hot day. Made the mistake of not getting out early - too busy updating investing stuff. Did need to walk up to shops to pay a deposit on new carpets. Walk up and then walk down to Blackbutt Creek

Walked past this block of apartments - called Treetops - not a tree to be seen

Spied this tiny flower - maybe a third of the size of a US penny

Native violet - a lot open

Tree fern up a side track - for my friend Robyn - she loved ferns

Last year these were budding - this year too. Next of the greenhoods

One more budding further along - pterostylis hispidula - small nodding greenhood

One of four plants budding

White dyanella - probably an escapee

Another escapee down at the creek

Went looking for sharp greenhoods having seen one open last week. Leaves but no budding

Hot walk at 5pm - bring on autumn

Dinner - meeting friends two suburbs down. My wife was late leaving the office. Trains were screwed - I walked with the wine. Was not planning that many steps

Did a bit of hide and seek as restaurant was not doing BYO on Friday - nice dinner

I learned a long time ago to stop gaming - it is a time sink. So need to worry about them. Did play maybe 5 battles in Splinterlands - when it started - reinforced the lesson
