Heading south - climbing vines in Seven Mile Beach NP : February 20 2025

Been keen to head down south for a while. Had 3 weekends in Sydney - want to get out and do need to cut the grass. My wife's project is getting to crunch time - hard to carve tine out. She is also helping her son deal with separation. Had a plan to drive down myself midmorning. Had to wait for a delivery - the last one from this vendor was stolen. In mixed mind but did head out as soon as the delivery was made

Traffic was easy. Stopped at top end of Seven Mile Beach NP for a walk. Not expecting to see orchids - too late and too early. Scurvy weed

Not a lot flowering - pea flowers starting out

Always a native violet - there were a lot

Stony mushroom - going to guess it is a puffer

Nice walk in the beech forest - leaving plenty of leaf litter. Not many of these littoral forests left

Big old tree down - taken a smaller one down too

A different pea flower

I walk this slice until the lantana begins. It is an invasive weed that takes over. Looks like NP have started to clear the lantana. Photo shows the dead bush with the wall of the love behind. Looks like they weedkill and then chop down with machetes. Did the turn around

Tiny white flower - half the size of a US penny

Climbing vine - this one got above head height

Got a long way to go - those tops are 60 or so metres above the ground

A new vine - maybe 2 feet up. Attached to the ground by something the width of a match stick

While on the topic of things growing - coastal palm.

Was good to stretch the legs after a 2 hour drive. Love listening to the sea as I walked. And no traffic noise.

Good drive down - as quick as I have done. Had enough energy to cut the grass which I s standing 4 inches tall. As I was busy, the neighbour across the riad said he was happy to cut it when he does is. Nice.

New neighbours are not the quietest - chose to not step out to meet them. Let them choose to show their spots

Dinner: BBQ.

Late night working on IM stuff. Trying out new stuff. Did not work the way I had hoped. Going slow on the idea
