Fringed Midge Orchids showing in Ku-ring Gai Chase NP : February 5 2025

Got a hot day coming. Had me moving a little earlier to walk a track to look for midge orchids

New signage - today will walk half of the Bobbin Head Track starting under the powerlines

Lobelia emerging - tis the season

Cicada caught up

Took a while to get a photo to work of this bug - no idea what it is

Lots of purple fringe lily flowers open - track I walked a few days back they were finished

The delicacy is amazing - the backdrop shows the plant is basically growing in sand

Walk under the powerlines did provide a midge orchid

A lot more as there was a brown praying mantis chomping away - the orchid - fringed midge orchid - corunastylis fimbriata

Zoomed in - the fringe flaps in the wind

Banksia longifolia flowering

Budding midge orchid - not sure of ID - a new spot

Patersonia iris - not expecting these as they are early summer - found a few

Narrow leafed hemigenia

Good to find fringed midge orchids flowering - a few metres below the last seen location

One of two plants - this one yet to open

Close up - corunastylis fimbriata

Grey spider grevillea

This tiny pink flower grows where the midge orchids grow. These have made it through last year track work - two seasons for the midge orchids

Midge orchid found near the end of the track - not seen them this far back in the track

Did shopping after the walk

They are tiny - maybe 5 mm long and 3 mm wide

The purple fringe lily flower is so beautiful that it captivates me, wow , 10k steps count today , it is Awesome . It is commendable . Have another good day
