The colour purple on Smiths Creek Fire Trail : December 19 2024
Grand idea for the day was to combine the last day of pre-Christmas shopping with an orchid bush walk. Chose to drive to a quieter shopping centre and walk a track not walked often. Hoping for 3 or 4 orchids but sure to find two. Did the shopping first - cold stuff went into a cool bag with ice bricks
Not quite the normal shape of a scribbly gum - something changed its path out of the ground early on
Banksia leaves emerging
First of the purple fringe lilies for the day. Maybe a colour purple day
Dampiera purpurea continues the theme
Narrow leafed hemigenia is one more
Was not expecting to find Sydney boronia still flowering. There were a few open
Light was bright - never really know which photo works
Saw this gooden beetle on the conesticks flower
Lurking behind was a weevil bug - up to the left
Starburst flower my name
Grey spider grevillea
Hibbertia flower
View down to Smith Creek
Another interesting scribbly gum form shaped by fire in the core
Did find slender hyacinth orchids flowering on the way back
Close up - dipodium variegatum
Bonnet orchid growing at the base of the same rock - cryptostylis erecta
Trigger flower opening
Eucalyptus tree dumping gum - stressed from too much rain or not enough
Last of the angophora flowers
Always home for bugs of some sort or bees
Walk done. Shopping done. Steps done. Somehow drifted the rest of the day away
Did cook pizza for dinner

fringe lilies, Dampiera purpurea and conesticks flowers are very Strange and beautiful , I have never seen them in my life. Amazing photography. 10K steps count today, good job
