Day 2 of GCC2024 - ride and walk Seven Mile Beach NP : October 2 2024

A slow morning after a late night in markets. Wake to a cloudy morning not conducive to getting on the bike to ride. My wife headed out for her birthday lunch. Got myself moving after lunch for a ride to the centre of Seven Mile Beach NP

Stopped on a small side track off Gerroa Road - found a punk fingers orchid under the palms - caladenia catenata. Had seen them last time here

Was planning to walk the same loop I did last time - came across this cow skin and partial carcass - not there last time. No flies and no smell. Well not until I got past downwind - turned back - stink was bad

Saw this blue tongue lizard on the main road. Turned around and got it to face away from the centre of the road when I took the photo

Dyanella were all open

A deeper purple

And there were a few native violets open - just a few

Purple pea flower - also just a few

First of the hyacinth orchids taking shape

Potato orchid seen last week has seeded - of the three spikes - only two made it to seed

No orchids to share with the jogger both times of passing. Fab track to jog - flat and shaded

Walked the side track - heads into the palm trees

Big tree down since last time

A fair amount of bird activity - the bird is in the tree - maybe time to carry the zoom camera and become a bird watcher

Afternoon light for this dyanella

One more orchid right where the bike was parked

Got the ride done. Added in a few extra kms to get ahead of the monthly target for Kids Cancer Ride

Those are spectacular pictures on a ride! Great idea go into by the beach, flower are so beautiful, I love orchids and colors are just 😍

Thanks - the National Park runs right along the beach but there are only a few access points.
