Only Orchids are Home Rock Orchids : August 23 2022
Sun was out. Forecast is for rain. Focused on getting the weekly investing post out. Then headed out to walk a slice of Ku-ring Gai Chase NP in search of two orchids and to do shopping
Every walk brings a different perspective - weird flowers - looked it up. Dodonaea triquetra, known as common hop bush.
Bearded orchid on the way down to the fire trail
Rice flowers just starting for the season
Went looking for the leek orchid I found last week. The budding one is still there but the flowering one has been dug up by a wallaby. The stalk of the chomped plant is visible to the left
A few patersonia open but no sun orchids found
Cluster of pea flowers standing tall on a long spike
Pink wax flowers. Disappointing to find just two orchid buds for the walk - one I knew about and one new
Did the shopping. One supermarket has no eggs. I guess we will see more of this. Good thing I do not need eggs
The orchids at home have opened to make up for the lack in the bush
Pink rock orchid - dendrobium kingianum - a native orchid
Rain hammered down when I got home - smart move going out early
Dinner: Italian meat balls - make meatballs with onion, egg, seasoning and herbs - bigger than golf balls. Fry each side
Fry up chopped onion, celery, garlic, capsicum - sequence by the time they take to caramelise
Add in stuff for a rich tomato sauce - wine, canned tomato, stock, tomato paste, herbs.
Bring together - serve with pasta and parmesan cheese
Trade action: Bought CCJ, DBA, LOOP, MA, NAT, SLDP, SPWR, CURA.TO, LFST.V, PYPL. Sold JKS.

Lovely pictures taken and am pretty sure you enjoyed your outing
The flowers were so lovely! I would need one of those plant identifier apps in order to know the names of each and every one like you did. Thank you for sharing their beauty with us.

I have a few orchid books that I refer to. I do not bother much wot the other plants - with 1950 orchids in Australia that is enough for one head. Plantnet or iNaturalist apps are pretty good.
thank you so much for sharing the report and beautiful photos, have a nice day
