Indiana Jones Finds Dendrobium Orchids Up High : August 10 2022

Was another slow start. Got busy writing up the latest crypto post - not done one for a while. Did not get it published. Morning was gone. Chose to drive down to National Park to see if the white fingers orchids would emerge. I know where to find them

Park at the old Bobbin Head Inn and head to the walking track. High on the rocks above the Inn is this dendrobium orchid pushing out a flower spike. I have parked my bike below this spot 100 times and never noticed. Cliff face is a bit steep to climb up to get closer. The stairs to get up a level is closed - too bad as that would get me really close

Walked the big loop in pursuit of two orchids

These purple flowers are just emerging - like a rumpled shirt

Maybe a theme for the day - new beginnings for a new season

Mushroom action

Heard the crunch of the cockatoos in the sheoak trees. One was standing guard high above with the other 5 busy crunching

Walked right up to the powerlines to look for waxlip orchids seen last year. No luck.

Came all away around and down the back of the Inn. Had to do the Indiana Jones things to get to the dendrobium from the top. Got close

Close by was the pea flower - not seen this in the bush to date. Only in the suburbs.
