Rain Rain Flood Defence Day : March 9 2022

It rained and it rained. Did not feel like the forecast 200 mm until the big rain came. I have been working hard all week to get water to flow away from the house.

This is the one spot I have not worked on

Well the big rain came and I saw the wine cellar sump pump was not coping with water running under the house. I spent an hour baling water there and gave up.

I closed the wine cellar door - no wine in there and let the water rise

Did some work to get water to flow directly into the sump. The outside door is open and it is the low point. Water will eventually flow out and down. Rain kept coming.

This is the source of the water going under the house. I got as much flowing as I could get from the front garden around the side of the house. This spot is a foot deep and is the low point. I baled 500 buckets out of there until the water was not touching the house. The day's steps came from there. And then the sump pump could keep up.

Good news is we had power all the time. Work to do to fix the problem - the downpipe there does not go to a drain. Big rain equals water under the house

Did go out to shops as news suggested we may have some shortages coming

Got to say I am over doing flood defence work but also super happy we live 100 metres above the creeks.

Dinner was something different with chicken mince - two types of meat balls - one the same as Thai fish cake recipe with chicken mince. The other simple mince, rice flour, gf bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, spring onion, garlic. Bake at 180C for 30 minutes.

Served with iceberg lettuce and a little soy or sweet chilli sauce

Trade action: Closed QQQ hedge trade fir 250% profit. Converted TLT ratio put spread to bear put spread.
