Woke to a clear blue sky. Been some time since we had one of those. Decided to check out a track I have not walked for a while. Did drift the morning away. Went out on the bike to access the National Park after lunch.

Nice cool walk under the big trees. They have done a burn since I was last here in the spring. That changes life on the ground. Did spy an orchid above ground

Still a few flannel flowers

Nice to see these open out a bit

Gave up on orchids on that track and went to check another spot to seek out midge orchids

As soon as I moved away from the bush, I saw the first midge orchid

Walked a bit further - just beyond this spider and its dinner

It moved into the edge of the web

Yup. An orchid finishing

Turned back and found more on the track close to where I parked the bike

In the same spot but minus labellum - is it the same?

Last detail - great to find orchids where I thought I might.

My son came over for dinner - cooked roast quail with herb butter stuffed under the skin.

Served with fresh garden beans
