10km, Nostalgia, and Unexpected Treasures: The Recipe For A Perfect Sunday Walk

There’s something magical about walking with someone whose company you cherish. Today, @nathalie-s joined me for a longer Sunday walk, a solid 10km on one of her usual routes. Switching it up from my regular paths brought a refreshing sense of adventure, even in the familiar.

The scenery today was breathtaking. The canal mirrored the clouds perfectly, creating a canvas of endless sky and trees. The crisp air had that subtle bite, but the warmth of the sun breaking through the clouds made it feel like nature’s little reward.

And then, as if the walk wasn’t already perfect, we stumbled upon this little gem: a vintage Peugeot Assistance car. For a moment, I was transported back to my childhood. This 205 model was one of my favorite cars growing up, I remember seeing it in racing magazines and dreaming of driving one someday. Seeing it parked there, with its retro decals still intact, was like spotting a piece of nostalgia in the wild.

Walking with Nathalie added another layer of joy. Conversation flowed easily, turning the kilometers into moments shared rather than steps counted. Having a companion on these walks reminds me that fitness is not just about movement; it’s about connection, connection to nature, to the present, and to people you love.

So cheers to more miles walked, more paths discovered, and more memories made. Sometimes, it’s not about the destination but the company along the way, or the unexpected treasures you find en route!
