José Miguel Cabrera - MLB | ESP-ENG
JOSÉ MIGUEL CABRERA

Using the name Jose Miguel Cabrera instead of Miguel Cabrera to refer to this Venezuelan player of a successful career in the big leagues, will be perhaps for some something strange, because for some it is not familiar that name of Jose, most have known him with his middle name Miguel, but for fans of this sport and those who have followed him since his beginnings, we know that Jose Miguel Cabrera, is the real name of that boy that many experts said he was going to lose sight, I remember the famous American journalist Peter Gammons when he said: ''I hope my life is enough to see him enter the hall of fame'' and he has not been completely wrong, after this season, only 5 years separate him from the temple of the immortals, time that is always estimated after retirement to be able to enter it, and of course! to have the necessary numbers, like the ones he is imposing.

PROMEDIO AL BATE / BATTING AVERAGE

Beyond his accounting numbers that are visible to everyone, I do not come to talk much about them, I want to highlight in this publication his capabilities as a hitter, which is what kept him, or still keeps him among the best players who have ever played the game, yes, ever, a term that is only attributed to a player when he stands out above the rest, and Jose Miguel has done it in an extraordinary way to mark an era, a period of time of 20 seasons.
Being an average hitter, or bat leader in the big leagues, is extremely difficult, because it is about maintaining the level with your swing during the 162 games that each season brings us, many have reached the batting leadership in this league, but it is just that, the batting average or AVG, but Jose Miguel has always done it, without neglecting the other main offensive departments of a hitter like him, which are: connecting home runs and driving runs, a talent that very few can do, and he did it in a very natural way, which in turn led him to connect more than 3,000 hits.
CUADRANGULARES / HOME RUNS

The natural thing for a player of his build is to always hit a home run, and he did it on many occasions, so much so that he managed to overcome the famous barrier of 500 round-trippers, a figure that is taken into account to classify a power hitter with merits to enter the Hall of Fame, but Jose has managed to do it without neglecting the batting average, something that is very difficult to do, because in general, home run hitters in this sport, do not have a good batting average, and the boy from Venezuela does.
Power hitters focus a lot is in hitting the ball out of the park, and their batting averages, or are fairly at 300 points, which is the main reference, or are below this figure, clear examples we have seen throughout the history of the sport, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Ken Greffey Jr. Frank Thomas among others, whose talent was focused on the home run, and current case, Jose Soto, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Shohei Ohtani himself, who do hit for average, about 300 or 305 points and do not go beyond that, but it is not a 330, 340, 350 batting average, characteristic of good hitters, and also these characters that I have just mentioned strike out a lot, typical of home run hitters to always swing very long.
CARRERAS IMPULSADAS / RUNS BATTED

This line among the hitters is one of my favorites, and it is because it is the one that completes the third most important accounting record that is considered to evaluate a player in terms of offense, driving runs is extremely important in the game, because it is that player who brings the runs home with a hit, either a home run, a single, double or triple when there are runners in circulation, historically this type of hitters are home run hitters, relying on this four-corner hit to bring theirs to the plate.
Doing it that way is easier and is the way we commonly see the big hitters perform this task of bringing the runs for the team, but they still neglect the batting average, and only focus on the RBIs, but Jose Miguel Cabrera, did this while maintaining the batting average, which makes him unique in his class, managing to complete this way having a good batting average, over 320 points, a good number of homers, around 40 and a number of RBIs that exceeds at least 120, Which he did and in a masterful way in the 2012 season, perhaps the highest point in his professional baseball career by averaging, worth the redundancy of the word for 330 average, 44 home runs and 139 runners brought to home plate, an achievement that not only led him to win the triple crown of batting, (Leader bat, homers and RBIs in the same campaign) but to win the award for most valuable player (MVP) of that season.
EL HEREDERO / THE HEIR

In the recent tribute that was made in the city of Miami on the occasion of his last season in the majors, tribute that has been made in each of the parks in which he and his team have visited, and on the occasion of the Venezuelan Heritage Day in the case of Miami, Jose responded in a press conference to one of the many questions he was asked about who would be his heir or who would take the baton after he retired from baseball and without hesitation he answered Ronald Acuña Jr.
That comes out of his mouth is of utmost importance, but as we say in baseball, you have to prove it, and yes, Ronald is having numbers that make them worthy of such praise from Jose Miguel and is demonstrating it with their performances, but as has been the tone of this publication, will not only have to place the numbers, He has the age and talent and a whole road ahead of him, in addition to an excellent physical condition that I think and I believe he will achieve things that ''the boy in the movie'' or the one who responded to the ''0'' time did not achieve.
